Heard it on 3D's radio show...

Post#1 » by Jjforprez » Mon Feb 18, 2008 4:32 am

I caught a little bit of Dennis Scott's radio show on 790 tonight, and Sekou Smith called in to discuss the Bibby trade....

Of course he's happy with the Bibby signing, but what was interesting is that he says another signing is happening tomorrow for the Hawks. He said it was someone familiar... someone we saw last year?? I'm thinking it might be Jeremy Richardson from the D-League. Steve Holman also called in and he kinda hinted at a D-League pick-up... that also makes me think Richardson.

On a side note.... watching the All-Star game tonight, it was noticably obvious that Ray Allen was trying to freeze out Joe Johnson. There were several plays where the ball was swinging around the perimeter, and Joe was wide open for the pass, and Allen deliberately swung the ball the other way. Looked like he was trying to make a statement about him deserving to be voted in above Joe. Glad he didn't get the MVP...

Hey, you know....even though Allen was ballin out there and it was nice to see...I got the same feeling that Joe got frozen out of at least 3-4 plays in that 1st half, especially when the ball was swung his way and guys forced shots while Joe was wide open....

But WTH, it was a very nice competitive game with plenty thrills and highlights and that's what we all want to see...

I don't recall Ray Allen passing the ball once even Joe wasn't in the game. I think Pierce and Allen were looking to shoot every time they touched it. Joe also would have done better with a real pg like Kidd who was looking to pass. I really don't care much about these exhibition games but it would have been nice to see Joe get a few more shots/touches.

I would have went with Kinsey but Richardson is supposedly the best D-League player and has a good outside shot(hopefully he isn't a defensive liability). I guess that means the Hawks will have two players off the bench who can hit an open three point shot now.

You saw it too?.... yeah, it looked that way to me. But you're right, the game was good.

J-Rich (ha!) is considered the best NBA prospect in the NBDL, so it could be worse.

I read Chill may miss part if not all of the Western trip. This might explain why we might be signing Richardson if it is him.

Richardson would be a great sign. He's a fantastic shooter and very long. I don't see him log many minutes but he's a guy that I would be fairly comfortable with getting PT here and there.

Sekou pretty much confirmed that Richardson is joining the Hawks again. I think it's a good move.

He also mentioned that Dale Davis might be a consideration for filling a frontcourt spot. I think he'd be great for this team. He has a ton of playoff experience and is one of those guys who will do the dirty work for you. If we could get him for the remainder of the season, we'd have completed a major set of upgrades that should make us a much better team.

He's like Lo Wright but not a sissy... I like it.

Richardson is OK by me... I hope we can see Smith work inside more now that we have a pg to space the floor and Chilz won't be standing out at the left block in half court sets.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
