:D You don't know how many times I've heard that joke back in school, too bad I'm not related to the famous brand otherwise I'd be like Shard's wallet (stuffed with money).

And yes I'm baaaack, I've just been effin' busy lately.

Face it: no matter the changes in personnel, the new guys taken by trades or free agency, this squad seems to have established a trend by itself: start hot, go cold and disappoint the fanbase regularly.

I don't think we've gone cold this year. We did cool down, but are still doing fairly well considering the hard early schedule - total number of games + amount of road games.

Good write up otherwise.

Welcome back! Glad you got your priorities straight.

The piece was mainly written early last month after some disappointing losses, so the opening part isn't too nice on the team. I was a bit down so I kinda predicted a long losing streak, fortunately it never materialized.

I agree that the Magic are a starter at SG and depth at PF and C away from being the next Detroit.

What GM Smith slowly move towards is the assembly of a team. THe Pistons proved that that can be one path towards a title. THe Magic clearly are not on the Celtics-type path of assembling a Championship contender. That would be a good strategy for a Cleveland-type team, but not for Orlando.

GM Smith: stay the path. Build slowly and for the long term!

It's a shame we weren't able to use any of our 13M in expiring contracts to do anything to remedy our situation. We had the opportunity to really improve, and yet we still find ourselves a few steps from greatness.

Don't forget that the Magic themselves profit from expiring contracts. This was win win for GM Smith.

Yes they profit (as in $$), but in doing so, did they improve the team?

However, how much revenue (profit) are they not bringing in from an improved team with better attendance/season tickets/concession/merchandising/etc?
