CAVS pulling a BLOCKBUSTER trade (Update pg.6)

Post#1 » by Jordan-esque » Thu Feb 21, 2008 11:26 am

Akron Beacon Journal

Two league sources said the Cavs' front office is mulling over a blockbuster trade ahead of today's trading deadline. It is a complex deal, because for it to make sense, a second complimentary trade would probably need to be accomplished, too. Another potential hitch could be haggling over a first-round draft pick the Cavs are also looking to acquire.

This potential deal is NOT part of the Cavs' pursuit of Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Mike Miller. The Cavs have made offers to the Grizzlies for Miller, but a league source indicated Wednesday that the Grizzlies were leaning toward not trading Miller based on the offers they'd received.

If nothing else, the Cavs are being extremely active as the deadline approaches. Then again, they were last season, but ended up not being able to pull off a trade.

Hmm... since it's not Mike Miller, who could it be?

Who is it?

Guesses are:

Vince Carter
Ron Artest
Eddy Curry
Zach Randolph
Jermaine O'Neal

*Update* - apparently it's for Wally & Big Ben

Hints from the same writer of that article on his blog:

- I cannot yet say what player the Cavs are considering making a deal for. I have to protect sources. But I can tell you that I have talked to two different people in different organizations that have confirmed the talks are serious. I know you want more, but I just can

If it's not Mike Miller, it's useless. All of those players(vc, artest, curry, zach, JO) are headache's.

I dont think they have the pieces unless teams are happy to accept cap space or expirings for next season.

I would love to see either Vince or Jermaine with LeBron.

On court, off court, in the same bed, everything.

Just thinking... but maybe someone more "under the radar" regarding trades down the stretch like... Ben Gordon?

It'd be funny if they got Ben Wallace.

Mike James for Newble+Brown+Brown

CLE gets GOAT for expiring contracts!

CLE will obviously have to change their game since Lebron will only be the second best player on the team now!

The Cavs have avoided James multiple times and I don't this will be any different. He's got an overinflated belief is his ability which makes him more of a negative than a positive for just about any teams he plays on.

This doesn't make a ton of sense. Usually the team getting the first round pick is getting a worse player along with it, not the other way around. A part of me thinks its artest or someone of that nature.

Actually now that I read again it sounds like he is talking about getting Ben Wallace.

if Vince Carter plays like he did last night, Cleveland will be extremely dangerous..Carter showed leadership in the 1st game without Kidd, and carried the team when they needed it..

I don't see it happening though..

Jermaine would be pretty decent as well..I'd stay away from Redd though, I wouldn't want him on my team..

Carter, Artest, O'Neal and Miller will not net the cavs a first rounder.
But Zach Randolph, Eddy Curry and Big Ben Wallace could possibly get them a pick.

I really think it's going to be Ben Wallace (if this whole thing is true)

Cavs beat writer said that Ilgauskas was not involved in the trade mentioned and that it isn't sending VC or JO back to CLE...
