The more things change, the more they stay the same. In the end, most people seem to think that for all the "nice" things marion does, he just isn't worth his contract. It's a hard sell to a rebuilding team to lock up Marion in his 30s for $15 mil per when that money could be spent in other areas.
If Shawn were making $7 million a season, he'd be one of the more sought after players. But at $17 million, his salary is just a little inflated.

Send him to the Grizzlies, so he has a coach that appreciates him and knows how to use him, an up and coming point guard, and a hopefully good draft pick. However the Grizzlies seem to be dumping salary and just want to tank. I feel bad for Ivaroni and Wallace. Hopefully the NBA will frown upon owners dumping salary with NO PLAN of using it to make the team competitive ever.

Memphis is doing the same thing Phoenix did in the last season under Jerry C. They are dumping a ton of salary to sell the team for a high-profit mark and then hope the new owner comes in and spends to win. Colangelo not only moved a ton of salary for nothing, but he also sent 3 picks out (including Deng/Igoudala) for cash savings.
In the end, the Suns were lucky to get Sarver and have him spend a ton on Nash+Q+Amare extensions. Of course, then Sarver turned from drunken sailor to scrooge when we hit the tax. Hopefully Memphis can get an owner in that's willing to spend a bit.

Rough...he came out and said the right things and played hard, but still they don't want him. I don't trust Riley at all, surely if he sees the potential for a "Pippen-MJ" type combo, why break it up?
Marion+Parkr to MEM for Miller, Cardinal and Lowry
Trade checker says he can't be moved til April 08? IIRC Sheed was moved after one game for ATL, so who knows...
