Possible Buyouts?

Post#1 » by mattyBoi » Thu Feb 28, 2008 10:09 pm

But those aren't the only players teams are going after now that the trade deadline has passed. The Celtics have eyes for Sam Cassell, the Spurs and Suns are angling for Brent Barry, and other players (Tyronn Lue, Ricky Davis, Antoine Walker and Michael Doleac, for example) could also enter the mix between now and Saturday.

ESPN is reporting that Sam was bought out this morning and will be a Celt in the next 48 hours...

I was hoping that anthony johnson or a big would get bought out...but i still dont know if Otis would bite...

No player on an NBA roster this year may play for another team during this year's playoffs.

Is that true?

I hate it when players become bandwagoners like that...

I don't think that is true. I thought that there was the deadline that is basically upon us to pick up a player to add to your team, but I could be wrong. If it takes 48 hours to get Cassell signed I am sure that he will be able to play for Boston. Boston improved. I think these guys are able to play.

Orlando passed on getting better and kept Arroyo and Garrity - nice move Otis. I don't hate Otis, but he hurt us by not making a move - I sure hope he learns from his mistakes as I think he will be here for a bit - he needs to get a good draft pick - we still have a good team, but he blew the opportunity for us to compete at the highest level - what was required a real PF with some muscle - we could have gotten that for not too much.

I think the deadline is sometime in March.

I thin the deadline for waived players is this Saturday.

My gut feeling is that it's March 1 as well.

I believe this was discussed over the original Kidd trade, it was unclear if Stackhouse would able to go back in time to make the playoff roster.

C'mon guys....How many of these buyout or retired guys have gone to teams like the Hornets....Warriors....Cavaliers even? They all are going to teams that are considered among the five best in the league with a lot of playoff-experienced veterans -- Suns, Pistons, Celtics, Mavs and Spurs.

so if it comes down to it, would you pickup either one of Murray, Patrick O'Bryant, Walker or Jerome James?

if so, which and why?

I have my pick...and it will be surprising to some i think...

unfortunately...he'd be the best pickup, unless we were going to forget Chucky altogether and replace Dooling's spot while he's out with his injury, if he is...

True. we'll have to see how that plays out with Arroyo.

Just heard rumors of Ricky Davis and Gordan Giricek also.

Ricky would be nice if he understands his role which is highly unlikely.
