Rondo made a clear statement tonight: I'm the starter, Sam

Post#1 » by GonzoLays » Sat Mar 1, 2008 3:44 am

Take these 16 assists Sam Cassell and shove it up your ass. As you recall Sam has been on record stating how Rondo, estentially, isn't ready to lead a team to championship due to his inexperience. Rondo responds with arguably his best game as a Celtic -- 16 assists! I freaking love it!!

This kid has balls and takes challenges head on. You wanna talk all that ****, Sam? Well I'm gonna play my ass off and keep your old ass on the bench.

**** beautiful!

Cassell can still get his 12 minutes, though. That's fine.

Rondo should be playing 36 minutes a night without question. Inexperience? Most overstated nonsense in sports.

What'd you think of him waiting for Perk on that break? Was he trying to get assists, or was he just being nice to Perk? I'd rather see him lay the ball in when he's that open.

Was there any doubt?

But I agree with Cassell that Rondo is not ready to lead this team to a championship.

You are going to love Cassell more than you know gonzo...He is going to finish games for us in the playoffs, he is exactly what we need!

Shut all the doubters up, Sam!

Sam Cassell shoots free throws at 89% Ray Allen & 90% its a wrap in late game situations

As Grande said tonight, Sam's minutes are coming from House, not Rondo.

I think he just gave it to perk to be nice. Maybe he saw Perk trailing on the break and said I might as well reward my big man for running the break.
My Starting 5:

PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing

rondo had a magnificent game. nice way of stepping up so that doc would not even think of making sam a starter. sam will be getting house's minutes and will be very effective in end game situations. rondo will give us momentum while cassell will finish the game. rondo will eventually learn this from sam.

I thought Rondo just played his game, showing he's got great passing ability. I wonder where Cassell made those statements on Rondo, though.

I don't think Perk was that impressive tonight. I thought if that Rondo made Perk's night. Without all the good penetration Perk scores nowhere near as many points.

Rondo had his best game as a Celtic. He looked so confident and made decisions like a 10-year veteran!

*Must not make Obama/Clinton reference ... *

36 is high for a PG. I presume the reason PGs generally play fewer minutes is that they're working hard right from the beginning of the possession.

I would guess that Rondo has had relatively few 36+ minute games in his career to date. And with a better backup, I'd expect him to continue to be in the low 30s max most nights.

I think this whole deal is overblown....

Rondo will start...Sam will push him to greatness!...and when Sam's needed, he will be the glue that sparks the second unit...

I like the prospects and fully expect everyone will get along just great!....

Hey, lets not forget that Sam WANTS to come here!
He will be a great addition! :)

Rondo played his game. Perk played their game. Nobody was making a statement. If you need an excuse to play well, you shouldn't be on the Celtics and I don't think Rondo and Perk need excuses. This isn't a soap opera.

ok, i dont think anyone an claim to be a bigger rondo supporter than i, i know i wanted him before we drafted him, back when many were still on the DWest as PG wagon, and many who were talking draft said rondo was a flawed player because tubby smith was (lol) a great coach...

that being said, sam's comment was not to undermine rondo as gonzo suggests, it was to trumpet what he brings to the team and his statement was accurate. i forget his exact wording, but the question was along the lines of how would his chemistry with rondo work and how would he feel about backing up, he said he had no problem, he thought rondo has great talent and a great future, but he stated that rondos weakness is his strength PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE... and thats what he will bring to the team and to rondo

Rondo is my man, but he has never played in the postseason. that is one situation where i do not believe experience is ever irrelevant, and neither do the Cs, otherwise they wouldnt make comments like "we have the best record but we havent been in the postseason together" cassell has played in 115 playoff games, and has won the big game. that cannot be underestimated. he and posey will be our only guys with experience that big. thats what its all about and cassell knows that. hes a big ego sure, hes not selfish or dumb. he knows rondo is good, but he knows why hes coming here, and its to make the Cs, and rondo, better
