It seems like the league could use a better approach when suspending players.
When an infraction is committed against a certain team, the player committing the infraction should be suspended for future games against the team upon which he committed the infraction.
For example, Dirk was suspended for a flagrant against AK of the Utah Jazz for 1 game. Why should Houston be the beneficiary of this suspension? He should be suspended for the Utah-Dallas game on Thursday, April 10.
If the teams play no games against each other for the rest of the season, then the default of the next game should be used (the current way of doing suspensions).
If the suspension is multiple games, then as many suspension games as possible should be when the player plays the team he committed the infraction upon with the balance of suspension days happening as soon as the decision to suspend is made.

Thats a very obscure scenario that i doubt would happen more than once in 20 years. And if it did it still shouldn't affect anything.
Example: If utah was affected by AK's absence due to Dirks flagrant, than it doesn't matter if utah had traded AK because Utah, who was originally affected, would gain the advantage back by not having to play against dirk the next game.
And if dirk happened to be traded i'm sure it could fall back to his first game for the new team.
The only place this would get messy is multiple game bans and the such. Though i do think it's a solid idea in concept.
