What kind of lottery protection do we have? If we miss the playoffs do we instantly keep the pick?

on the other hand, if we make the playoffs, the pick is New Jersey's automatically...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Would you be happy if the Mavs miss the playoffs but end up winning the lottery?

It would be like when Robinson went down and the Spurs ended up drafting Duncan.

It wouldnt be anything like that because Rose and Beasley aren't Tim Duncan. Don't get me wrong they have bright futures but right now they aren't franchise players.

It would be like the Spurs because a contender would be winning the lottery.

Yeah but the Spurs added a franchise player (Duncan) to another (Robinson).

Beasley and Dirk would be nice but it wouldn't elevate us as much as Duncan elevated the Spurs and Robinson.

There is a lot of difference between ending up at the worst in the lottery with the 14th pick in the draft (PF Darrell Arthur or C Roy Hibbert) vs. what we are at right now, the 22nd pick in the draft (PF Serge Ibaka or PG Lester Hudson)... Source: http://www.nbadraft.net/

I have since changed my tune. I think we are going to draft 60th anyway. I think this team gets it together.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Careful, I got slammed when I brought that up last week and suggested that it might not be the end of the world for us if it happened.
