Who do we realistically want to face in the first round?

Post#1 » by LiquidFire » Sat Mar 15, 2008 5:05 am

Right now, it doesnt look good for the number 3 seed.

dont just say washington to proove there fans wrong, just say the team we better face up against, and have the most chance of having success. i dont want to get cocky and get thrown out of the first round, even tho i think we would beat both teams.

Toronto?

or

Washington?

I'll take anyone.. Honestly, I learned my lesson when I was 15 years old back in 1997.. I was telling everyone that would listen that I wanted the Marlins over the Braves at all costs.. There was no way the Marlins could beat us, and the Braves would hammer us... Well.. :-?

So basically, unless it's tongue and cheek, I don't really wish for any opponent (Washington being the lone exception last year due to their roster structure at the time)

Just play whoever we play and see what happens...

We have serious advantages over both teams, but each offer their own challenges as well.

With Toronto obviously we could rebound them to death like we always do and they have absolutely no one to stop LeBron. Although they do have the dread quick PG that we always have problems with.

For Washington as far as they have come along, we are still the better defensive team and we also can outrebound them. Along with that we still have the better player overall. The hard part about facing them again is all of this losing to us is beginning to really get to them. Despite us being the better team, they will want to beat us more than we will want to beat them. Could be dangerous.

I'd take Toronto over Washington, but I'd really take either.

Washington. I will probably be pretty busy when playoffs come around, and I figure if we play the Wizards I can get all my work done, and be free to watch the second round.

I don't care who we play. If we are healthy and playing well we can create fits for any team in the east (and west for that matter). However, if we continue to play like we have lately with slow defensive rotations, bad shooting, poor rebounding and lots of turnovers we really can't beat much of anyone.

Yeah it's alot like us against Det. We got tired of losing to them and being disrespected. That goes a long way in sports..

Still I'd rather face the Wizards. Stevenson running his mouth would amp Lebron's game up and we all know how LBJ delivers in the playoffs

Toronto will have a lot of energy. Wizards have not improved much this year, and are a team geared for an early playoff exit.

I'd take the Wizards again. LeBron is in their head and the games are usually close. I don't fear either team, but both present problems for our guards(especially Arenas if he's good to go). The good news is our rebounding bigs are a big advantage. I think the fans have something to do with it though for me. The Wizard fans want the challenge of seeing their team take down the Cavs/LeBron. I say let 'em taste 3 years in a row of being taken out in the first round.

We don't want to face anyone lol. We aren't built for the playoffs yet. Hopefully in the years to come we will make it interesting for you to play us.

It will most likely be us (Toronto) you guys play first and while I have no expectations we can take the series, it should be a fun one to watch. I would love to watch you guys hammer Washington though because of their attitude.

No we'd much rather play Orlando who we are 6-1 against in our last 7 with them. Orlando has no one to stop Bosh just like Toronto has no one to stop Lebron.

I dont think it matters much who we play, but I would rather play wash so when we win again we can rub their delusional fans noses in it. and it would be fun to watch LB torch deshawn game after game.

It does not matter who we play in the first round. The way we are currently playing, we should win against any of the potential opponents. The true test will happen in the second round against Boston.

The only big thing that could happen in the first round is if we got upset. Then I think Mr. Potatoe Head's head would be taken.

I want to win but if we lose in round one that would be an okay result.

For some strange reason the sixers would enjoy a 7 game series with the eastern confrence champs. It seems that the cavs would overlook the lowly sixers and have...... Their Eastern Conf Crown slaped of of their heads.....

We would love to play the Sixers. That would almost be like winning the 1 seed.

With the way we are playing we might as well just stay home for the playoffs, because we can't play offense or defense, and we can't take care of the ball. I expect us to lose in the first round if we continue to play at this level.

I guess that is how us Wiz fans feel about playing the Cavs as well. I'm not the type of person to do it, but if the Wiz beat the Cavs, I can bet you will have tons of Wiz fans posting on your board because of your comments.

What I don't understand is why you are so confident the Cavs would easily beat the Wizards. The first year the Wiz played the Cavs, just about every game went to the wire. A few bounces here and there and some made free throws and the Wiz could have won that series. Last year, we were missing two of our all-stars when the Cavs swept us. I don't quite understand why anyone would put any stock in that series. For this year, we beat some of the best teams in the NBA without our full compliment of players, not just once but multiple times like Boston, Dallas, and NO. We also played the Cavs evenly without our best player. Now, we finally have all our players back, we have a better bench than the last few years and we have momentum going into the playoffs. We also have the revenge factor on our side for Cavs beating us up while we were down last year. On the other side, you have to even admit that the Cavs have not been the same team since the trade and have been limping to the playoffs.

Even all the analysts admit that the Wizards are a dangerous team in the playoffs. I'm not that cocky to say that the Wizards will easily beat the Cavs in a playoff series, or that we even will beat the Cavs. I think it will be a hard fought series like the series two years ago. However, I do not understand why some Cavs fans like you seem to think the Wizards would be an easy pushover in a playoff series. Perhaps you can enlighten me?
