Post#1 » by Troy McClure » Thu Mar 20, 2008 10:47 pm

General Manager Sam Presti announced today that second-year forward Mickael Gelabale suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during practice on March 18. The extent of the injury was revealed in an MRI performed yesterday and examined by team physicians this morning. The injury will require surgery.

Gelabale appeared in 39 games for the Sonics this season, averaging 4.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per contest. .

So..that's why he didnt play last night.

What does this mean long term? That's an injury that takes a lot of time to recover from, and Gelabale's contract is up...right?

Yeah this is Jello's second year of his two year contact at 800K a year.

Talk about crappy timing for the Frenchman. ACL's to my knowledge (and I'm not a doctor but I do play one with my wife on occasion) typically is about a year recovery and another 3 months or so before you start to get your explosiveness back. I'm sure it also depends on the severity of the tear, but at any rate this sucks Gelloballs.

Honestly I doubt we see Gelly in the NBA again.
