OT: Awards

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Fri Apr 11, 2008 7:42 pm

I am sorry if there is a post for this already and I hope there is not a place where this is sopposed to go because I don't really care about the opinions of the other members besides the Laker crew (you guys)

MVP-Kobe
COY-Doc
ROY-Durant
DPOY-Battier even though Camby effects the game more. If Camby got it I wouldn't be upset.
6th man Gorden

1st team

Howard
KG
Lebron
Kobe
Paul

2nd team

Amare
Dirk
TMac
Pierce
DWilliams

3rd team

Nash
Duncan
Davis
Bosh
Jamison

All Defense

1st team

Camby
KG
Battier
Kobe
Manu

2nd team

Howard
Sheed
Jackson
Kidd
Iggy

All Rookie team

1st team

Horford
Scola
Durant
Thorton
Conly

2nd team

Green
Young
Stuckey
Noah
Chandler

It might be a little off because I just wrote down exactly what came to mind so maybe with more thought and research it might be different.
Tell me what you guys think, I know the rookie and the defensive teams might be a little off.

I'm relatively new here, so I maybe off-base, but it seems like you enjoy lists and rankings.

I love rankings because it's good when there is nothing to talk about and it shows me who thinks like me bball wise.

The only problem I had with Duncan on the first team is even though I take him over just about any other big is Manu really carried that team maybe as much as Duncan and Amare and Howard and a few others just had much bigger years.
That first team thought would be my top 5 best players list so you could easily make the arguement for that being the first team.

Other awards I guess we agree.

MVP = Chris Paul (with Bryant virtually tied)
DPOY = Marcus Camby (with Kevin Garnett close in 2nd)
COY = Byron Scott
6MOY = Manu Ginobili
ROY = Tossup between Kevin Durant and Al Horford
Most improved = Chris Kaman

edit: Got Kobe for MVP now after last nights game, but it's still extremely close between him and Paul.

Kaman for MIP. I forgot that one. Bynum would have had it for sure.

Why do you have Gordon for 6MOY btw? I think Manu for 6MOY is the most obvious pick of any award this season to be honest.

MVP - Kobe
COY - Rick Adelman

DPOY - KG
MIP: Jose Calderon

Ginobili and Prince should be up there for all defensive teams, no lower than 2nd team all defense, imo.

I was wondering the same thing.

Star you basically said Manu carries his team, but then he's not 6MOY? Where's the logic in that? Because he's too good to come off the bench?

Ginobili does start a lot of games, but I think he came off the bench more this year.

It kind of weird to give him the award, because he's obviously not only a starter-caliber player, he's one of the best players in the league.

He only started 23 out of 73 games thus far, and the cutoff is 50% so he's easily eligible for the award, but yeah, I can understand that.

My little contribution....

Id put Juancarlos Navarro in a rookie team. He was one of the eight players that went to rookie team in allstar, he deserves! :)

Mitch is certainly one of the top candidates for EOY, but Danny Ainge has to get some recognition as well for assembling a team that made the biggest turnaround in NBA history as far as wins are concerned.
