Is Dwyane Wade no longer going to be relevant in top 5 lists

Haven't followed the Heat much this year after Christmas. After the first half of the season in 2007 I thought he was as good as any player in the NBA. But the injury he had to his knee was really serious and the surgery he had in the offseason that year did nothing, especially considering he came back too early and probably undid all the repair. Thats why he had to do Ossatron this year. Now its my belief that he should have just done another surgery as soon as he realized he wasn't 100% or just rested before he reaggravated it. the season was over anyway. A patellar tendinitis injury should not have been taken so lightly. That stuff ends careers. He'll still be a good player, but it seems like now he'll be a Vince Carter level player moreso than a Kobe Bryant level player =(

Kobe was taking the same heat a couple years back. He had knee surgery and looked fat. The only difference was the wade also had his shoulder worked on. Give the guy this off season and re open your topic. Differce between Vince and players like wade is passion for the game. The guy wants to win and thats something you don't learn or lose. He probably will be. I think right now Lebron, Kobe, Duncan, Amare, and Chris Paul are all ahead of him. Wade is, right now, in that Dirk, Carmelo, Paul Pierce group.

I saw where Wade said he was playing in the Olympics this summer, said he wasn't missing it. The question is do you guys think a full rest in the off season will do the trick ?

It's a delicate situation of does he want to be a "franchise" player for the long haul or is winning a gold medal more important to him ?

I don't doubt at all that he doesn't want to be a franchise guy because he all ready is, I cringe at the fact that the Olympic team is built with franchise guys anyway. We'll all hold our breaths and hearts on just about every play every game anyway.

Rounding it all back to the topic question, Wade when healthy is one of the most exciting players in the league. If I were him I would do what Elton Brand is going to do and skip the Olympics and get healthy.

With the right draft pick at No. 1 (barring the league doesn't rig it for NYK) which should be Beasley and a couple of free agent signings the Heat will be in playoffs next season with ease.

That question is pretty self explanatory. Would Lebron James ever sit out the rest of the season just to tank for a good draft pick...? Wade could have played out the rest of the season and your franchise could have won some more games and had a respectable season. He might still be a good ball player, but he's lost a lot of respect from the NBA community.

LOLOLOLOLOL. Lack of heart? Are you sure you want to throw Kobe in your arguement? I remember him throwing his team to the wolves on Game 7 against the Suns about a season ago, and not even attempting to take over the game.

"Oh but it was strategy" says Phil and Kobe on conference after the game. BS. Suns was giving everything the Lakers couldn't handle, Kobe had many opportunities yet decided to step back; he showed to me personally he was afraid to fail.

lol. Lack of heart. Yeah, sure was a lack of heart when Wade took over in the playoffs and then turned around the series single handedly down by 13 on Game 3, and pretty much dominated the series the rest of the way by himself.

Wade taking the rest of the season off is what MOST of us fans wanted, about 95% of us. And it wasn't about tanking, it was about getting him healthy; as if we were winning anyways with a banged up Wade, please, in most games, his knee just couldn't give him the lift/explosiveness, and in some games, you will see flashes of his greatness. He still put great numbers despite the turnovers.

He didn't want to take the season off, he said it himself, his plans were to end the season together. Team doctors and Riley gave him advice and he took it. Hell, I remember Wade saying that the playoffs aren't even farfetched yet we were about 25+ games below .500.

He played all he could, and he was not healthy. Want to talk about lack of heart, you can take that crap to the big fella who didn't even show up because he didn't want to.

But what ever, enjoy that haterwade. I'll be enjoying a healthy Wade when he's back 100% next season and that won't be good news for what ever team you root for or any other team in the league.
