NBA Awards

Post#1 » by el loco » Mon Apr 14, 2008 7:04 am

I thought it might be fun to get some of the fans ideas on some of the seasonal awards.

Coach of the Year: I am going with Adelman. I have never seen a team roll off as many wins in a row as his rockets did this season. I know it has been done before, but it was crazy to witness first hand.

MVP: I hate to say it, but I am going with Kobe. I thought he really grew up and matured as a player as the season went on.

Rookie of the Year: I am going against the logical choice of Durant and picking Al Horford. The guy is almost averaging a double double in his rookie season and at the moment has helped the Hawks land the 8th spot in the eastern playoff race.

6th Man: It is to bad that JR didn't get the minutes early in the year that he is getting now because I would easily pick him. Heck, with it I am biased I am still picking him.

GM of the Year: Mitch Kupchak

Defensive Player of the Year: I have a hard time picking Camby, but since he got snubbed in the all-star game, I am going to pick him to win it again

Most Improved Player: Turkeyglue, but if Bynum hadn't gone down with an injury I would pick him

Comeback player of the Year: Grant Hill is a strong candidate, but I am biased and Kmart has comeback from 2 microfracture surgeries, so Kmart gets it.

Who do you guys pick?

My picks

Coach of the Year- Adelman. Injuries, slow start and still near the top of the West. A 22 game win streak helps I guess.

MVP- Kobe. His numbers aren't better than Paul but to me David West is the Hornets MVP, so I can't give him the league MVP. So give it to Kobe.

ROTY- Durant. Got better as the season went on.

6th Man- J.R, Ginobili starts too many games. J.R has been amazing the last 2-3 months.

I'm betting the only awards that Nuggets players will win are Iverson on the 2nd or 3rd all-nba team, and Camby on one of the all-defensive teams(most likely 2nd). Comeback player of the year isn't an actual award, but Kenyon does deserve that.

I also agree that Many doesn't deserve the 6th man of the year award at all.....the only reason he actually comes off the bench anyway is because of Pop's weird strategy, and he still plays over 30 mpg anyway. J.R. is a true 6th man, and definitely one of the best in the league.

I know what you are saying is true, on the comeback player of the year, but I was just trying to have a little fun. Manure will most likely get the 6th man of the year award or barbosa again, and there is nothing wrong with being a little biased for your team, is there?

AWARDS

MVP -- Chris Paul
DPOTY -- Marcus Camby
ROTY -- Kevin Durant
6th Man -- Manu Ginobili
Coach of the Year -- Byron Scott

Comeback of the Year -- Kenyon Martin
Most decreased player of the Year -- Dwyane Wade (i know his stats don't look too bad, but he's a big part of the slump the heat are in... his turnovers this season are amazing in my eyes)
