Carlisle to the Bulls?

Post#1 » by CBS7 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 2:20 pm

Seems like he's the frontrunner for the Bulls coaching job, and supposedly he's going to have Terry Stotts and Dwyane Casey as assistants. Stotts is almost certainly going to be an assistant if Carlisle gets hired, and Casey will be if he doesn't get a head coaching gig somewhere else.

A good head coach and 2 guys with head coaching experience would be a pretty damn good coaching staff.

What do you guys think? Is he/are they good for the Bulls or not?

Great coach. One of the most underrated in the league. He worked wonders for Detroit and Indiana. He doesn't coach an exciting style, but very few - if any - coaches in the league get better results in the win/loss column.

If he's hired by the Bulls, he'll have coached for 3/5 Central Division teams.

I think he's perfect for the Bulls. He's a good defensive coach and unlike Skiles, he's capable of running an offense. I expect better from the Bulls next year.

I liked Carlisle in Detroit and thought he did a great job of holding Indy together (relatively speaking).

I never viewed him as a great teacher. Not somebody who's really going to expand the game of the guys on his roster. But what he does exceptionally well is utilize the strengths of the players on his roster and mask their deficiencies.

I'm not sure I'd be to excited about his offense though. He's another guy who likes to call a lot of plays, although he did open it up a lil bit in Indy compared to his walk the ball up mentality in Detroit. But one thing is for sure; his team is going to defend and play hard.
