If Detroit loses...

Post#1 » by BrewCityBBQ » Sat Apr 26, 2008 5:04 pm

In the 1st round to Philly, and looking at their board they seem to want Billups gone or are at least discussing it. Can Hammod somehow get a deal going with Detroit to nab Billups?

Could Mo Williams be involved? Having Ramon Sessions learn under Billups would be huge.

I don't think Dumars panics and blows up the team but even if he did I don't see where we have anyone they would want.

If Detroit loses then perhaps Hammond left at the right time. He leaves associated with a winning team, and can come here and help us become a winning team.

I'd just about give up anybody aside from Bogut for Billups. But like MD said we don't really have the pieces, and i'm sure Bogut would have to be involved in any type of deal with Detroit.

So I'm confused. Are we in win now or are we rebuilding? I don't think I want Billups anymore unless we want to contend next year.

I don't think we can possibly be in a "win now" mode. We are just too handicapped by bad contracts and bad players at this point.

right now Philly has a great shot to win the series. Philly is ridin really high, coming into the playoffs the way they did, they are by far the team with the most forward momentum.
I think Mo cheeks is the wildcard in this situation, he just needs to keep the momentum goin and not let his team give up if they get down 10-12 points, the sixers can afford to lose games but they need to keep it close to keep their confidence for the next game

The sixers have won 2 games and their best player hasnt even showed up yet really(IGGY)

As for the pistons it starts at the top where Chauncey is just not havin a good series at all yet, where andre miller is so far

You also have to realize that Hammond is probably not going to try to trade with Dumars.

I had a thought soon as we signed old GM from Detroit. Usually they like bring players to the new team. I was gonna make a topic who we could land through trade from Detroit but I didn't. Maybe could land Wallace for Cv and #7. I suppose Detroit would want cheap Bell in there too. That be iffy.

"I don't think we can possibly be in a "win now" mode. We are just too handicapped by bad contracts and bad players at this point."

Lot of common sense to that statement. But I have a hunch that Win Now is still Goal One. The summer should tell the tale. If they trade the lottery pick, if they acquire vets, if The Senator spends more than makes sense - those will show that the owner doesn't want to sit around waiting for a gradual rebuilding.

I think the top-shelf GM and top-shelf Coach were brought in to make a difference Now.

Now, I don't mean a contending team. 42-40 might be enough to shed the loser image. For starters.
AFAIK, IDKM
