I am noticing a trend in the playoffs this year. Playoff teams have been going with athletic guys with size to guard guys who are hard to keep out of the lane.
Today against the Celtics Childress was moved over to guard Rondo at the point. Childress did a good job of defending Rondo and disrupted the flow of the C's offense.
In the Nuggets Lakers game Karl threw bigger players against Kobe. In the 3rd quarter when K-Mart got the assignment and did a good job on Kobe. It wasn't until K-Mart got fouled out when Kobe went nutz. Carmello had a bad series in part because Odom was on him, and has more size.
In the Suns/Spurs series:
Diaw was switched on Parker after dismantling the Suns during the season. It's impossible to always keep parker out of the lane, but they did a much better job with Diaw on Parker. Also Bowen always guards Nash.
The Rockets should try Battier on D-Will and negate D Wills size advantage at PG.
These bigger guys have done a good job because even though its hard to stop a quick guard it is rarely done with out a pick. When the pick in Role is executed its harder to make the pass when there is a much bigger player in the way.
Thoughts?
