Offseason 2.0

Goals:
1. Young, athletic players who have the ability to defend.
2. Smart players
3. Clean the cap sooner than later, my goal is not next summer, but the summer after.

This will likely look a lot like the previous offseason I made with a couple tweaks.

Trade 1:
Redd for #6, Mobley, Tiny Tim

Trade 2:
Mo, Storey, our 2nd for Varejao, Damon Jones

Trade 3:
CV, Gadz for Cardinal, McKie, Memphis 2nd

Draft: Try like hell to move up with #6 and #7 to get Rose or Mayo. Include Yi for Rose if need be. Otherwise...
#6: Eric Gordon
#7: Bryant Westbrook
Memphis 2nd: DJ White

Re-sign:
Mike Ruffin: 2 years, 4 million

Sessions - Jones
Gordon - Mobley
Simmons - Mason
Yi - Varejao
Bogut - Varejao

Westbrook
Ruffin
Thomas
White
Cardinal

Don't use the MLE unless Chilldress comes looking for a deal. Because we don't want to add salary. In 2 years when Simmons, Mobley, Thomas, Cardinal, Ruffin come off the books simultaneously, our cap will be cleared.

Bah, I love the fact that we get 2 picks, but no way we should use it on two combo Gaurds.

I really like the Redd for #6/Mobley/TT......but again Donald Sterling never takes on more salary than he sheds. And he doesn't trade much. Like it, but would not happen for those reasons IMO.

Mo for Varajao I'm ok with but would much prefer Haslem. If we do send Mo to Cleveland, I'd try to somehow send Gadz with him. I think Mo could carry out Gadz or Simmons with him potentially.

Where do I sign? Actually I just don't think Hammond will ign up for this though. I just am not sure he wants to go that young. Detroit wasn't really built through the draft is why I say that. Billup was a FA signing and rip and Sheed were traded for. Prince was the only main line guy they got via the draft really.

For Redd to get moved, he's got to go to a team that can spend luxury tax money if needed to advance in the playoffs. i.e. a team like Dallas or Cleveland whose owners will go into tax territory.

Or we could trade him to a team with a $20 million a year underperforming all-star type like JO, Kidd, VC.

As we've discussed a million times, it really limits the options we have to deal him. No rebuilding teams (about half the league) would take him. And many other teams would like him, but can't figure out how to make him fit in their salary structure.

You lost all credibility when you wanted to resign Ruffin....to a two year deal.....for more than the mininum.

What did he do this year to deserve a raise and a two year contract?

And you want to clear room off the cap?

So doesn't that give Mo more trade value?

I think it depends on the team. Don't you?

I think Redd would be better on the Cav's and Mavericks. Mo would be better on the Heat or Lakers.

But I don't see Mo going to a rebuilding team either. Unless we take back a clinker contract as well (i.e Hinrich)

I'm all for taking a Westbrook, so long as he's the guard from UCLA and not the cornerback that sucked for the Lions.

Cleveland would pass on a Mo for Varejao deal. Andy is an important backup big and he is young enough to be part of our rotation for years to come. Cleveland already has Delonte West, so I don't think the need for Mo is that high....especially when you remember that he has 5 years left on his deal.

No we wouldn't... I think most if not all of us would take Mo in a heartbeat..Especially over Delonte..

Nobody on the Cavs board really wants Redd, that's pretty much the consensus.. However, Mo is another story.. He's a perfect fit for our team... Poor fit in Milwaukee, but would be excellent in Cleveland..

Mo would be exceptional in Cleveland..

For many of the same reasons why the Heat wanted him in the offseason last year... You team Mo up with a dominant wing player who can initiate offense, I think he would benefit from it tremendously...

And I also believe he would thrive in a winning atmosphere, and in BIG GAMES so to speak... The situation in Milwaukee is bad, and I understand he's apart of the problem, but I also believe he would benefit from getting out of that situation...

He was kidding. DB is in the elite few that make up Mo Nation.
