Is Steve Kerr is a moron?

Post#1 » by CarolinaCash » Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:13 pm

Who's been making the decisions the last couple of years? As an outside observer I've always liked the Suns but didn't understand why you guys traded so many first round picks for nothing. How many picks have you traded the last 4 years......7? Also, I don't understand letting Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion leave bc they are much younger than veterans like Shaq and Grant Hill. Kurt Thomas was sent to the Sonics with a 1st round pick for nothing while the Sonics got a lot more when they traded Thomas to the Spurs......it's just very confusing. Why waste the money on over the hill players instead of these draft picks?

My main question is why did you guys give away so many 1st round picks?

You traded the 2004 pick (Luol Deng) to the Bulls and another 1st rd pick that year to Utah that could have been Kevin Martin, JR Smith, Varejao, etc.

You traded the 2005 pick to the Knicks for nothing.....that pick could have been Nate Robinson, Monta Ellis, David Lee, Kleiza, etc.

You traded the 2006 1st round picks to the Celtics (Rajon Rondo) and to the Blazers (Sergio Rodriguez)

You traded a 2007 1st rd pick to Portland again (Rudy Fernandez) for nothing.

i think u are pretty confused. those transactions u listed were done by Bryan Colangelo, Mike D'Antoni and Steve Kerr. However, most of the flawed ones were done by D'Antoni and Kerr

The moves Steve "I'm either a genius, or I'm a total idiot" Kerr made since he got hired.

- Wasted using draft picks when he traded away Kurt Thomas' expiring (which actually had value) and James Jones.

-Signed Skin and Grant Hill - Good move, but winded up being pretty much useless this post-season anyways since GH got injured just in time for the playoffs.

-Traded Shawn Marion n Banks for Shaq

So ya, he is a moron

Kerr should have stuck with broadcasting. The Marion trade will cost the Suns any chance of winning in the near future. Now you have 2 more years at 20 mil for Shaq.

He's a moron.

The Shaq move completely disrupted your chemistry. Imagine if you had kept the Matrix and traded Diaw + ATL pick for Dalembert? NBA Title blown ...

I think Kerr is a genius. He, almost single handedly, helped the Heat by taking Shaq and his bloated contract (and poor FT shooting and dumb fouling) and by giving us Matrix who is a valuable commodity for a trade or for salary cap relief in a year.

Thank you Kerr.

Trading picks and players for nothing is (Please Use More Appropriate Word). That's all Sarver. No way ANY GM thinks trading away picks is a good idea.

It all starts with Sarver saving money. I understand moving some of those picks, but come on now. Kerr I think to a point is a moron, but so is the owner. DA did not make some good moves, and I will always hate BC for that trade with chicago. I think that is when it all started to fall down.

It seems like for every GM of the year type move there has been a move they made that should have made the worst gm. Trading Deng was to get enough money to sign Nash but they could have done it some other way. Joe Johnson wasn't nearly the player on the Suns as he is the Hawks but they should have seen he was about to break out. He is Lebron James without the athletism. He has the same size same all around skill set. They should have kept Deng. If they had Deng and Joe they would be awesome.
Getting Barbosa was really smart but giving away the draft picks is not them being stupid it's them not caring and just wanting to save money. They aren't commited to winning a championship they just want to turn a profit.
Trading Marion for Shaq was really stupid but they did that for the money. They didn't want to extend Marion and that is why they made the trade. If they would have kept there draft picks and kept Marion they would have won a championship but they would have had to pay more players. They are so not deep because of the cash.

kerr is fine.

its the coach and the players to blame...

we will contend next year...yikes, we have to wait for another year for the playoffs again..

get artest for diaw

trade barbosa for a true point guard

develop DJ

draft a rookie center

sign skinner

we'll be fine

While this is true. I have no doubt that Kerr got the order from Sarver to dump KT's contract, but it's the GM's job to negotiate a good deal, either for saving money, or improving the team. Kerr got nailed, period. KT and 2 unprotected 1st rounders is NOT a good deal. It's a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE deal in the history of horrible deal...

And then couldn't even get the Heat to throw in a draft pick in the Shaq deal. But I guess him and Sarver think that's good enough just to dump Marcus Banks. Rubbish.

He signed Grant Hill, but it was a no-brainer. He wanted to come here.

Steve Kerr is a moron.

Heat throwing in a draft pick with Shaq? Now, wouldn't that be too much considering he is the most feared player in the NBA... the player that will hit FTs when they matter... the guy who is still loved in every city he leaves? Ok, we'll give you our third round pick in 2012. Maybe by then they will have a third round. In the mean time, you guys are stuck with the Big Cry Baby for 2 more years.

Joe Johnson is a really awesome player, but I wouldn't compare him to Lebron. If you meant it in the sense that he's a great all-around player like James, yeah, I see your point, but saying he's Lebron minus the athleticism is a stretch to me.
