If Grizz Draft Rose, What Pick does Conley Yield?

IF the grizzlies get the top pick or the second pick (and the team 1st picked beasley) and select Rose this will leave the 4th overall selection in last year's deep draft on the trading block for a Lottery selection so that the Grizz could build around Rose w/ a team that met his style of play etc.

The most logical ones i thought of was 11 to Indiana as he is a hometown boy and they'd love him there, 13 to be paired w. Oden. The Clippers need a young point guard as well potentially.

A trade that I could see happening is where the

Memphis Trades: Michael Conley, Mike Miller, 26
Memphis Receives: Corey Brewer, Fernandez, 13, Cash filler

Minnesota Trades: Corey Brewer
Minnesota Receives: Martel Webster, 26 (Use this pick and the Miami pick to move up 10 to pick up DeAndre Jordan)

Portland Trades: 13, Martel Webster, Rudy Fernandez, Filler
Portland Receives: Michael Conley, Mike Miller

Grizzlies

Rose/Crittenton
Brewer/Fernandez
Gay/Fernandez
(13- nbadraft.net- Kevin Love)/Brown/collins
Darko

Portland
Conley/Jack
Roy/Fernandez
Outlaw/Jones/
Aldridge/Frye/Dorsey
Oden/Pryz/Dorsey

Minnesota
Foye/Telfair
McCants/Webster
Webster/Gomes
Jefferson/Smith
Jordan (Trade up to acquire him in the draft)

Anywhere between 5 and 9, I'd think Milwaukee would give up #7 for him if no one they like is around.

I'm not so sure that he is really worth anything less than maybe Lopez, unless the Grizz are getting more to go with him.

Knicks could trade #5 for him, I'd be all for it.

There are two answers to this question: the right answer and the one you're seeking.

The one you're seeking is No. 4 overall, since that's where Mike Conley was drafted.

The right answer is a lower lottery pick, given 1) the depth of this year's PG class, 2) Conley's now-growing injury history and 3) the utter lack of bargaining position the Grizzlies have to trade him with.

Also, please stop making Conley deals. That one is terrible, as are all the others you've ever made. The trade board is one board above this one if you wish to press on.

Honestly, I think if Memphis is in a position to draft Rose (aka, one of the top two picks), they would yield far greater booty by trading the pick than trading Conley. I can see the allure of Rose, with him being a local hero of sorts from his one year with the Tigers...not to mention him being a potentially dominant point guard in the NBA. The Grizzlies seem to be pretty set at the point though, with Conley and Crittenton already there. They could get a LOT for that pick by moving down a few spots in the draft. Trade from 1/2 to around 5/6 and jettison Cardinal's contract, get additional future first round picks, and a decent enough rotation player.

If they were to trade Conley, I could see a team like the Pacers giving up the 11th pick and Shawne Williams for him. Wait, never mind...wishful thinking on my part. Indiana traded their first rounder last year so they cant trade it again. Rats.

^^ You dont pass on potential franchise pg's just because you already have potentially good pg's.. look at portland passing on paul b/c they had telfair, or atl passing b/c they had.. uh.. well they were just stupid..

The trade in the OP is horrible. There is no way Minnesota moves Brewer this early in his development. I know you really like Brewer, but take him out of the trade situation.

This would be an interesting situation for sure. It would mean the Sonics got passed over. The Sonics would likely be looking at J Bayless, OJ Mayo or B Lopez at either the #3, #4 or #5 pick. I think the Sonics would be willing to deal...

(a) C Wilcox for M Conley & D Stoudamire

(b) C Wilcox & Brook Lopez (Sonics #3-5 pick) for D Rose & J Collins

You do when you drafted a potential franchise pg the year before.

Or the Grizz could try to play Rose at the 2, and use him much like Wade was used in his first two years.

Bulls would certainly be interested at 9. Conley's dad is a Chicago guy and he mentioned that him and Mike always dreamed of him playing for the Bulls. We're looking for a distributing/playmaker at the PG spot, it seems like a pretty good fit for me.

Rose's upside is greater than Conleys i think we'd all agree.. not to mention that Conley's drawbacks are the same as Rose's, but DR has him by 3" and a good bit of athleticism, which helps him negate those negatives they share

What would you say to Conley and Warrick for Tyrus Thomas and 9

No...

Conley straight up for #9 is considerable, but not with the Warrick and Tyrus swap.
