NBA Lottery May 20th
I realize that we traded in our NBA Lottery dreams for NBA Playoff reality so there isn't much interest in this from a Sixers' standpoint. That said, I do believe there will be a fair number of teams looking to move out of the lottery altogether which could open the door for Stefanski to move up if he targets a prospect that figures to go in the Top 10.
Also, like last year... I will be rooting against some teams in the lottery. There's no way in the hell the Heat should get a top 2 pick after their blatant efforts to lose games (shutting down almost every starter and having their coach leave to watch college games). Also... I have to root against the Knicks getting a top 2 pick, right? RIGHT!
Here is Chad Ford's latest Mock Lottery. It's a fun thing to play around with to see who he has taking certain players. Thoughts?????

if the knicks get Rose, consider their future instantly fixed. All they really need is an all-world point gaurd to build around(the opposite of Marbury). They can be playoff contenders next year with their current roster or they can trade away some of their veterans for youth and build around Rose, Lee, Chandler, Morris, and the rest of the young guys. I dont think Beasley will help them out as much because there are plenty of athletic combo forwards in this league but not alot of truly great point gaurds. I even think Bayless might have more of an impact for them then Beasley.

^^^ I agree with what you said Carlton.
The Knicks are only a couple pieces away from becoming a serious team.
Several ways to turn around their franchise:
Move Eddy Curry. Bring in a defensive minded center. Everyones favorite FA, Diop?
Bye Bye Stephon Marbury
Keep Isaiah as far away from the organization as possible.
They have two guys who can score in Crawford and Randolph.
Robinson and Lee are good energy guys off the bench.
Rose
Crawford
Balkman
Randolph
Diop
Bench
Robinson
Q-Rich
Jeffries
Lee
Morris

To be honest, I will like it if New York somehow obtains a top 3 pick. That franchise has lately been doomed to failure and I would like it if they somehow get a spark of hope. Even if we cannot stand Boston, LA or New York, I want to get the old rivalries back. I am sick of such meaningless teams like San Antonio dominating the league for years.

Root for the Clippers to be in the right spot to grab Beasley if you want a shot at Elton Brand. I'm sure Sterling would like nothing better than to cut payroll by trading/letting go of Maggette and Brand and replacing them in the frontcourt with Thornton and Beasley (which is not a bad front court along with Kaman unless Beasley fulfills the Derrick Coleman predictions).

Right team, wrong scenario.
I agree the Clips are the team to keep our eyes on May 20. But maxing out Brand is not the answer IMO.
Here's hoping the Clips settle in at number 3. That would place them firmly in Brook Lopez's spot. Not sure they need him if Brand re-signs. Then, perhaps we could package Andre Miller + 16 + Jason Smith for Brook Lopez.
Lou
Iggy/ Carney
Thad
Lopez
Sam
That's something to build around. You NEED a serious young post-presence to compete in this league. And Miller seems underwhelmed about the prospect of re-signing here. Clips. 3rd. Make it happen, Secaucus.

I agree on Rose, but STRONGLY disagree on Bayless. I watched a lot of 'Zona this year and Bayless would be more of the same for NY. He is a SG in a PG's body. He dominates the ball offensively, he doesn't create for his teammates, he just doesn't know how to be a PG at this point. Arizona operated much more efficiently offensively when Nic Wise was running the show then when Bayless was. Now I'm not saying that Jerryd isn't a good player because he is, he's a tremendous scorer, but he'd do very little to help that NY backcourt.

Could this be an opportunity for us to acquire either Haslem or Marion?
I have to think the Bulls take the local kid in Rose. Yes, they have Hinrich at PG, but there's no question there were disappointed in his play this year. Yes, Beasley could be that PF the really need, but I just can't see them passing up the elite PG. They could deal Hinrich for a PF like Wilcox or mabe even Z. Randolph and get a PF that way.
Assuming it goes as I think and Rose goes #1 and Beasley #2, then the Heat are going to have 1 too many starters at the SF/PF spot. Marion and Beasley could both play SF or PF there and Haslem is soley a PF so 1 will need to be moved (assuming Marion doesn't opt-out).
I know not everyone sees Marion as a PF, but the reality is he played it better than 90% of the league for years in Phoenix. Granted he doesn't have ideal size, but he has elite defensive skills despite that. Since I think the chances Andre Miller resigns here are extreemly low, maybe something involving him and Reggie Evans would get a deal done? Miller and Marion are both expirings next year so the risk of a deal like this is very low and we dump what's left on Evans deal. If we were to deal Miller, we could make a push for Calderon, or a trade for Ford (injury risk though) or make a deal for a lesser name young PG (Crittenton, Lowry, Vujacic, Farmar, Marcus Williams, Jack, Sergio,
I'd be interested in Haslem too. He's not great, but he's a lot better than what we have right now. He might come relatively cheap. Would the Heat be interested in cap space and a young player (Smith?) or a future #1 (Utah's pick next year?).

Rose heading back home...isn't he a Chicago kid? I don't think Beasley is a fit for them with Noah already there (probably a 4 more than a 5).
When they got into the top 3, I thought, nice for them...Bayless or Lopez would probably help them...then they nail the top pick. Excitement returns to Chicago.

The Bulls are desparate for a big man who can score down low. There could not be a better fit than Beasley. Noah will be playing center most likely, Nocioni is a back-up and Gooden is a journeyman. Given my choice of Rose and Beasly in a vacuum I take Rose, but the Bulls team is crying out for a guy like Beasley. If they take the big man, Tyrus Thomas will become very expendable and Stefanski should look into him if other PF options don't pan out.

Have to think Bulls go Beasley. And I think Wade/Rose is actually a pretty bad fit, from a skillset perspective. That'll be interesting.
