I wish the Celts worked as hard on offense

One of the great fallacies that the celtics are falling into is that defense-ONLY wins championships. Yes, it is important to play good defense, but you don't have to be a lockdown defensive team for 48 minutes.

What's my point?

If you look at game 4, KG was exhausted in the 4th quarter. Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are playing their butts off defensively, especially Paul Pierce.

That is having a negative effect on the offense. Pierce and the celts are so geared towards stopping LeBron that the offense is an afterthought.

Pierce's energy is totally defensively focused. The truth of the matter is if they had less defensive effort, and just played solid defense and principles, and LeBron scored 35, Celts would win 100-90 every game anyway.

Doc and the staff have made this a defensive series, and by struggling offensively, they are playing into the Cavs' hands. The Cavs don't have the firepower to play in the 90s, much less the 100.

The problems the Celts have had in 3 of the 4 games is offensive, not defensive. Twice under 80 points? Bad job offensively.

The key to championships is the ability to lock down when it matters. That means in spurts during the game, and late in the 4th quarter. The Celts are trying to lockdown for 48 minutes, and by in large have done a good job of it in 3 of 4 games.

It's been a brilliant defensive job against LeBron.

But, too much effort is being wasted on the defensive end. Paul needs to be fresh. KG has to be fresh and they have to get Ray Allen off some screens.

Offense is the Celts best defense here. Cover and double team LeBron, that's fine, but you don't have to have PIerce play him balls out for 40 minutes. Pierce is exhausted and can't score.

I wish Doc would go back to the drawing board and sacrifice some of the defense for a little more offense and uptempo. Yes! That means Eddie House for spacing and Tony Allen to attack the rim.

We aren't getting enough shots up on offense, not playing at a fast tempo, and not getting to the rim.

If we rebounded and were aggressive offensively, this series would be in our hands.

They got to find a way to speed up the game. Playing very possession like it is the fourth quarter isn't going to work.

You have to have balance in the NBA, and the Celts aren't working as hard on offense as they need to be. That is the big problem. Lazy offensive effort.

Finally, we saw small ball late.I think spacing the floor with 4 shooters and KGin the middle is a good way to go.

OFFENSE IS GOING TO WIN THIS SERIES. Don't get caught in a game 6 or 7 at 75-75 with 4 minutes to go and let LeBron beat us. That's what happened last night.

If we win 110-100, what's the difference?
