Mavs could be eyeing Josh Smith in sign and trade

I personally don't see how they have anything that we would want to trade for Josh Smith that we wouldn't match whatever offer they put out here though.

It's impossibly at this point for Dallas to acquire Josh Smith. Josh Howard won't work due to Atlanta having Marvin Williams. So, I just don't see how a trade is possibly with the limited value Dallas has.
From Atlanta's perspective Brandon Bass would need to be included. I just don't see anyone else that works.

Right, but I don't that is really the issue.
The issue is that we don't have a hole that needs to be filled by Josh Howard that would warrant trading Smith for him. Do you think we should trade Smith for a Howard?

Smoove or Howard? I choose Smoove.
Is it possible to package Marvin and Chills for a inside guy? Smoove, Horford and Zaza need help in the worst way.
If you can find one, you better plan on him coming in as a starter. Oh, if only Caron Butler would come here. At this point, I would take a Chuck Hayes, who will not get as many minutes behind Scolia and Yao.

I fully agree with you as that's been my point all season long. Not exactly sure why you quoted me and replied to what I have been saying all year long.
How do you upgrade the 3 by trading Josh Smith to Dallas? By acquiring Josh Howard for him and finding away to move Marvin Williams later?

The articles does say SNT.
Mavs hoping they can work their way into the sign-and-trade mix for either Miami's Shawn Marion or Atlanta's Josh Smith.
Marc Stein is just pointing out the obvious needs and Josh Smith is one of them. However, Marion is a much better fit, and the Mavericks need to pursue him strongly.
