Most anticipated Game 7 ever?
What Game 7 have you looked forward to the most?
Today's Game 7, and tomorrow's Game 7, are right at the top for me. It's too bad they didn't do a double header.
SI.com has a photo feature on the 'best' Game 7's of all time, but I'm talking about your most 'anticipated' Game 7 as a fan. I literally can't wait for these games...they should be amazing.
The only one I can think of as coming close was Lakers vs. Kings 2002 WCF.

game 5 of knicks/heat in 1999
portland/lakers in 2000
mavs/spurs 06
those are games i actually remember being excited to watch. i'm sure i could list some of the other early 00 laker games and a few of the knicks/pacers games but i dont' remember the exact games and would rather not go on hearsay.

Why did the 2005 Finals get such low ratings considering it went 7 games?
If I remember correctly, it didn't get good ratings...am I wrong about that?
(Just curious)
To me, here's why I loved Lakers/Kings Game 7.
It lived up to all the hype.
- It was the Conference Finals
- The Lakers were going for a 3 peat
- Sacramento had home-court advantage
- Lakers win easily at Sacramento in Game 1 (A surprise)
- Then Sacramento blows out LA in Los Angeles in Game 3 (Huge shock)
- The Kings take another huge lead in Game 4 at LA, but the Lakers came back from a 20 point deficit and won when Horry hit the 3 pointer at the buzzer
- Vlade calls it a "lucky shot" after the game, Horry fires back at him saying he's done it his whole career and "he better read it in the newspaper or something." (LOL)
- Bibby hits the game-winner in Game 5; Kobe missed a shot at the buzzer giving Sacramento the victory
- Shaq erupts for 40 points in a close Game 6 to force Game 7
- Lakers win Game 7 in Over-Time at Sacramento and go on to win the Championship completing the 3 peat
Unbelievable series; my favorite ever and Game 7 was terrific.
That's why I picked Lakers/Kings 2002 Game 7
To me, I always knew San Antonio would beat Detroit in Game 7 mainly because they had home-court advantage
I don't know how many people expected LA to win at Sacramento and it was so anticipated because LA were the defending champions and were going for a 3 peat and Sacramento were at home for Game 7 and had a chance to knock them out.

To be honest, these might be the least anticipated Game 7s for me, considering how this playoff series has been, especially the San Antonio-New Orleans series

I'd say the Mavs and Spurs Western Semi-Finals Game 7 from 2006 was pretty awesome.
-Spurs defending champs.
-Long playoff history with Dallas always on the losing side; plus Finley being a traitor.
-Lots of emotion in that series, with the suspensions and fighting and all.
-DJ Mbenga, 'nuff said.
And the game was amazing too, Mavs up big after half, Spurs slowly chip away and even take the lead with a Manu 3-pointer with like 30 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Dirk then makes an amazing and-1 layup to tie the game and send it into OT. With the Mavs prevailing in Game 7 on the road.

The ratings for that one game were greater than 1998 nba finals that same year (average rating)

We still won more games than the 72 dolphins.....

I certainly have watched many Pistons Game 7's that were much more anticipated for me personally than this game. This one does rank pretty highly for me though for a non-Pistons game. I promised my wife I'd clean out the garage, even washing down the floor, and I made damn sure I got my ass in gear and got it done in time to watch this game.

Of course Kings/Lakers in 2002 had phenomenal hype after all that happened.
Spurs/Pistons 05 was awesome too.
Man I love game 7s!
Yea, that Nets/Pistons series in 2004 was very underrated. Even though, Game 7 was a blowout, the whole series had great entertainment. I remember being so discouraged after my Nets dropped a whopping 56 points in Game 1.
