Trade with Miami

Post#1 » by Da_Kidd » Wed May 21, 2008 6:47 am

Richard Jefferson
Marcus Williams
Keith Van Horn
#10 and #21 pick

for

Shawn Marion
#2 pick

Upon which, after Chicago picks Derrick Rose, we proceed to nab the next Derrick Coleman in Michael Beasley.

Much better than the Nuggets trade, IMO.

This would have to be a sign and trade which would mean Marion would have to opt out first. With that being said, can they package draft picks with Marion in a S&T. My thinking says no but I could be wrong. I always thought you can't combine players or picks in a sign and trade. It's have to be all that straight up for Marion. I think he'd pass on that.

LOL. So we get the #2 pick and Marion. No way that happens.

No way Miami signs up, but yeah I'd do that.

The best offer the Nets could make would be:

Jefferson
Marcus
#10
#21

for

Mark Blount
Marcus Banks
#2

Not a bad value for the Heat by any means, though its not for sure that they would do it anyway. If Riley is serious about trading the pick and looking to do what Boston did, this would give him a very good SF to start next to Wade for the next 5 years, but also leave him with the #10, #21, Williams, and Marion/Cook to make a deal for a star PF/C in the future, since I don't see on available right now.

This trade makes sense for Miami if their plan is exactly that... to try and find a true all-star bigman through a trade. In essence this idea turns Beasley into an all-star caliber SF to pair with Wade and a bunch of great trading pieces that can be combined with Marion in the near future.

If the Nets see Beasley as the answer at PF for the next ten years (this trade would only be conceivable if Riley doesn't) then they do this.

Where do you see Marion in the end of this? Is he in Miami's plans at the 4 or in a separate trade?

They would keep him at the 4 in the time being, while they try to package him with other guys for an all-star big man.

Duh, you mentioned that. I even quoted you on that. My fault.

Hmm...I think Miami would do this, but my only doubt on this would be Miami trading their 2nd overall for a SF instead of a big man. Anyway, looking at it for us...We have contract's that would expire at or before the same time as RJ's and the number 2. I think I'd pull it if it were up to us.

I'd do it, but we keep the #21 and draft CDR.

^Question for Heat fan.

Why would you think Riley wants to trade this pick? Are you guys rebuilding or trying to compete?

I know you guys need a PG, but you also need a low post offensive option.

Marion is a good enough low post scorer and rebounder. We really need a point guard which would help take the load off of wade. If we could get Rose there is no way we trade the pick.
