Expectations for Andrew Bynum?

I am just wondering what LA's expectations are for Bynum as his career progresses. He will be 21 by the time the season starts, coming off of an injury to his knee. He seems to be athletic and he is very tall and long...even for a center. My question is, what type of expectations do Laker fans have for him?

-Do you expect him to be a solid player, not quite an All-Star but someone who can give you 15 and 11 per game?

-Do you see him as a fringe all-star player, giving you something like 20 and 12 for his really good years?

-Do you see him being a guy who averages 20 and 10 on a yearly basis, developing into a dominant big man like say an Amare Sougemire? (not the type of player as Amare, but the impact)

-Or do you see him being a 25-12 guy during his prime and truly dominating the game...like a Tim Duncan?

andrew bynum was giving 17 and 12 when he got hurt. i don't think anyone has low expectations like 15/11. i think 20/10 with a dominating defensive presence is about where he should be at worst.

he was progressing every month he played and could have easily won most improved player of the year

i think he could grow some more, he really grew over last summer and his built was amazing but a little more and he will be out of this world....

he was already hard to guard with his height and length combined with his athleticism we were a match up nightmare...

d-12 would have his hands full if he faced bynum...i like d-12 and really think he is a throw back to old school centers but he really started to worry about filling the stat sheet too much that his game dropped off a bit late in the season, that's why coach stan was calling him out through out the year

his average is actually deceiving. he started the season with lower numbers and steadily upped his numbers during the season. by the time he got injured he was putting about 17 poitns per game and it seemed like was getting better and better each game. the scary part was that he was only averaging about 25 to 29 minutes per game.

If the injury doesn't hinder his progress or development at all, he's a 20-24PPG/12-14RPG/2-3BPG. His impact goes way beyond the numbers though. He anchors our defense in a way Pau simply cannot. He discourages penetration, he alters countless shots and he takes away tons of 2nd chance points for the opposition.

Starting next year, I can easily see him putting up 16/12/3/3 on 60% FGs. I just hope he doesn't regress from where he was pre-injury to the beginnig of next season.

Yeah, 5-6 years from now Bynum will be our main offensive weapon. Within the next few years, he'll have to share his touches with Kobe and Gasol.

We're going to see multiple 20+ rebounds games next year. He'll score in the 18-22 range. I think he'll be our second option and Pau will be our third. Not because of skill. But before Andrew got hurt, he was much more aggressive offensively than Pau is when he gets the ball in the post.

I expect Bynum to develop into the best center in the Western Conference, challenging Dwight Howard as the best in the whole NBA over the next several years.

He is a potential HOF player, due to his considerable upside. If he develops a couple of go to moves in the post - watch out, he'll be really dominant.

I believe Bynum is the key to the Lakers launching another dynasty over the next several years with Kob, Gasol, and our other developing players, Sasha, Farmar, and Turiaf.

I think you way overrate Bynum, defensively he's a beast, no doubt, but offensively he has tooo many limitations, no way he is at this point the second option of this team, i'd even put Lamar before him.
I'm not talking about 5 years from now, dont know what will happen by then, but actually he needs a lot of improvement in the offensive end.
And yes, last month he was 17 12, but thats what the season averages are, you can have a huge month, every player can, but season average is what you have done at all, and his stats are 13 10, theres no question, yes in 29 mins, but 13/10, when he plays 35 mins we'll talk about what he does then.
I can see him improving and becoming the dominant Center you are talking about, but right now he simply isnt, and lets hope this injury doesnt slow that his improvement.

19ppg, 15rpg, 4assists and 3blocks seems like a rather conservative average-prediction over the next 7-10 years.

Who knows, he could also break out and become a scoring machine, averaging closer to 30 in his prime. There's no tangible reason for why he wouldn't. He's got all the tools, including smarts, maturity and a strongly competitive psyche.

Honestly, the sky is the limit for Bynum. Like Kupchak says, there is no telling how high his ceiling could be. If he can stay away from injuries, he'll have a stellar career, in my opinion.

Damn, I must say that I am surprised that you guys think so highly of him. I mean with the numbers you guys are projecting, it would put him well ahead of guys like Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, and even close to Shaq.

It is very hard to average 15 boards a game. This year only 1 player did that (D Howard) Rebounding machines like Duncan, Boozer, and Camby didn't average 15 a game.
I think he'll be a great defensive rebounder but to come close to averaging 15, he would need to get his fair share of offensive rebounds as well which means being aggressive and physical on the offensive boards.
The most important thing he needs to learn to do is to stay on the floor. He has to learn to stay out of foul trouble.
