OT: LOL - Dougie Collins to coach the Bulls

Post#1 » by Cigamodnalro » Thu May 29, 2008 4:55 pm

Step down in my opinion.

Also, I've always had tremendous disrespect for this guy after he lead the Pistons off the court and to the locker-room with time still on the clock after Anthony Bowie got his trip-double.

Not that terrible of a choice. There's not that many great candidates still out there.

You can tell from his commentating he has a great bball mind. Hopefully it works out for them, they have a great young core.

Hopefully they flounder in mediocrity for the duration of Collins's contract, lose all of their young talent to free agency (to Orlando!), and relocate to Seattle. Screw the Bulls.

He last coached in 2002-2003 with the Wizards/MJ. He had went 74 - 90 in the two years that he was with the Wizards.

Collins coached a couple of seasons after the March 19, 1996 game that Bowie had the triple-double. Bowie"s Triple-Double Game
The Magic played the Pistons in the 1996 Playoffs which was a little bit more than a month after the incident. He coached the 1996-97 and 1997-98 season Pistons teams, so he saw the Magic after the incident.

The Bulls just pulled a Brian Hill. I hate the idea of the retread coach.

idk, Collins knows his stuff, but I have never been a fan of his as a coach, and with them getting the #1 pick and having to make so many decisions...I was kind of looking for them to plug in someone of a higher pedigree in terms of coaching...

Isn't that the guy that called a TO with 4 seconds left to get a triple double?

Collins told his team to stand under the basket closest to the visitors locker room, and I'm pretty sure Brian Hill was pissed at Bowie as well.

And the talk is one of the guys we've talked to will be top assistant and be groomed for the HC spot in 2 years.

How in the blue hell does Doug Collins get work? That dude hasn't done a thing in the pro's without Jordan. Why retread some old coach rather than hire a young guy like Avery Johnson who's already won?

Doug Collins still has not accepted the job offer. So all of this bashing him will be for nought.
Who knows you might get to start this all over again and bash someone else like lets say Charles Barkley. Now how about him to coach the Bulls. :o

He has a winning percentage of 58% when coaching teams that don't have MJ on them.

I'm a big fan of Avery Johnson.

Is there anymore teams left who still need coaches? I want him to have a job.

No, no Nick Anderson had one a couple of years before that. I can't remember if that was the first one or not though.

Am I missing something or does it just seem odd that Jerry Reinsdorf would hire this guy again?
