Phil Jackson must make adjustments

Post#1 » by sam_I_am » Tue Jun 10, 2008 11:05 am

If Phil is going to challenge Red as greatest coach of all time he must prove he can make adjustments. His efforts to psyche out Paul Pierce blew up in his face. His current efforts to get officials to make up for game 2 might make a difference but I still don't see Paul getting into foul trouble against Radmanovich.

The Lakers must put Kobe on Paul and that probably means starting Vucavic. He is such a much better player than Radmanovich anyway that it might actually work as long as he can guard Ray Allen. Pierce still has his way with Kobe but he will force more turnovers and if Pierce then has to guard Kobe or Vucavic it could be more difficult.

Anyway, that is what I would do.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Are you a Lakers Fan?
I just wish he doesn't make any adjustments..... if he does, it will be your fault! :P

I don't think he needs to make any adjustments. In general roleplayers play better at home - guys like Farmar, Vujack(sp?), Vlad Rad can all step it up and shoot like they did during that little run.

The problem with putting Kobe on Paul is that it's DANGEROUS. Best case scenario Paul gets him in SERIOUS foul trouble. He then has to sit. Lakers lose game and C's win championship. Yes I am declaring series over if we go up 3-0.

It's playing with fire.

. If you start V guy - then that leaves you a bit small up front. That's not the worst idea because Doc will "counter" by going small. <g> that's a better idea for the Lakers but maybe Ray can shoot right over him. So that might not work out either.

The triangle offense has been absolutely ineffective so far. When the Lakers made their run, it was because they abandoned it entirely.

Imaging being the opposing coach of a team.... you know EXACTLY what Phil Jackson is going to run everytime they come up the court. It's been the same offense for the past 15 years with him.

If you have a good defensive team, it can be predictable and possible to stop.

Phil certainly has gotten a pass on his coaching this series. He has taken a lot of gambles and they have mostly blown up in his face.

The only thing he can give them much like the wizard of Oz... is ..."there is no place like home".... He can't give them courage. he can't give them a heart. he can't give them a brain.
the only adjustment is home cooking. The C's need to play the game and not the officials. we were able to do it in detroit and we need to do it in LA.

If you are the Lakers, you can't put Kobe on Pierce. Kobe has to do a lot more on offense than he has in the first 2 games and putting him on Pierce can potentially put Kobe in foul trouble and Pierce can just post him up because Pierce is bigger and stronger.

One thing the Lakers have to do is keep going to Gasol. They went away from him, but Gasol was the only guy that was having his way on offense in the first 2 games.
