if keyon/arroyo leave

Post#1 » by NEM » Thu Jun 12, 2008 3:40 am

that leaves us with a big hole at the back up pg, would anyone consider jannero pargo? seems like he kills us everytime we play him, and he would be an upgrade over arroyo for sure and evans would be taking on keyons role as the back up 2 with whoever starts (draft/FA/trade). i'd consider giving him part of the MLE and then trying to use the rest of either childress or pietrus

I wouldn't mind but he's gonna cost a grip I think. At least more than what we want to spend.

I want Chris Duhon.

even with his injuries id still take livingston. play him 15-20mins a game he should be able to handle that. poor kid had alot of potential, i doubt he will ever be 100% but i really hope he is able to work through everything

Bulls fans hate Duhon for a reason. I wouldn't want him. We may not have a choice, but hopefully we don't have to settle for Duhon.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

I thought you all wanted big point guards. Duhon is listed at 6-1 and Pargo at 6-2. Based on most NBA rosters, who knows if they are that tall? Neither would be as tall as either Keyon or Arroyo.

i couldn't care how tall the PG was, so long as they're talented. Doc Rivers aint around no more so there's no need to sweat it over a tall PG or not.

Duhon, Livingston (if healthy). they're both great options. or if a trade can be arranged for a Crittenton type player then i'd be just as happy.

If Dooling comes back as the #2 guy behind Nelson (and assuming that Arroyo is not resigned), then a seasoned vet would be a good choice. Clearly Darrel Armstrong would be a fan favorite for a practice squad type.

How much do you think the mle is worth? Its not enough to use part of it on Pargo and still go after Duhon or Pietrus. Those last two are going to command all or nearly all of it by themselves. I like Pargo, but he's not worth tinkering our mle with, and I doubt he accepts an LLE deal. If it becomes clear that we aren't going to resign Dooling, I'm sure we are getting ideas of what his price range is going to be, then we need to think about using that second round pick that we want to acquire on a pg. I also am in favor of going after JWill with the LLE. I think he would take that to play for us, and we can always scour the wire for another one with the vet. min. if need be. Arroyo is still an option if we get real desperate too.

As far as Livingston goes, he's really not healthy according the Clipper board. He can't practice without extensive therapy on the same day, and can't go consecutive days. I would be very leery of offering him any of our few assets to acquire players and that includes the little LLE. He's a big gamble that we can't afford to take on imo. I still like the JJ for Crittenton idea though, that would be a great trade for us if it is available.

I forgot what I was watching, but I remember Doug Collins a couple weeks ago saying that all the Bulls players think Duhon is a better point guard than Hinrich. I also remember reading Scott Skiles liked Duhon better too (something like that). I don't watch Duhon enough to know whether or not he's an impact player. It'd be nice to have another starting caliber point guard, though (not saying he really is, but they seem to think so). Based on that alone, I think we should go for Duhon, because his statistics aren't that great.

Assuming that (a) he's recovered enough to play at a high level, (b) is not a great risk for repeat injury and (c) is attainable for us:

Would it be a good idea to start both him and Jameer in the backcourt?

The Bulls fans hated almost everyone on the team. Now if MJ was back then they would finally be happy.
Heck they have hated every coach since ....................Right now nothing is going to make the Bulls fans happy unless they are playing in the NBA title game and they are winning.

The Bulls fans hating Duhon means natta. He would be a good backup to Nelson and the Magic can afford him.

Arroyo is 6'2" so he's even with Pargo and only 1 inch taller then Duhon yes Dooling his 6'3", but then he isn't really a pg he's an inbetweener.

If u guys are hating on Duhon then you need to lighten up. We need a backup PG with Arroyo likely gone and Dooling also a strong question mark. We are talking about a backup PG and Duhon would be a good addition for us.

:o

I been saying it, its a bad idea to sign a player who still has not returned from injury. Even if its for just a couple of mill. We need players that are gonna contribute, not question marks. That injury was devastating, could be a career ending one and a few on this board are willing to throw this guy some money, i dont get it. Maybe a vet team like San Antonio or a bottom dweller like Memphis can take risks like that but not us. On the JJ for Critt, that would be good for us but if Memphis keeps Navarro why would they want JJ? Their games and stature are too similar.
