Keyon Dooling?

Post#1 » by Darren » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:12 pm

Will Miami, Dallas And Utah Target Dooling?

The Heat, Mavericks and Jazz could target soon-to-be free agent Keyon Dooling this summer, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

Magic GM Otis Smith, however, is still holding out hope that the team will be able to retain the guard.

"I'm sure there will be other teams looking at him closely this summer," said Smith. "We like him. We'd like to keep him, but that said, he is unrestricted. You like a guy, but at what number?"

Dooling, an eight-year veteran, made $3.6 million last season.

"I can't speculate on what might happen," Dooling said. "But there is definitely interest out there. When a team has success like we did, your value goes up."

Why would we go after Dooling? He is going to want more than half the MLE and he isn't that talented of a player. You can't tell me that Dooling could do much more for our team than someone like Tyronne Lue can do, and we wouldn't have to use any of the MLE on him.

Maybe we could offer a deal of Howard for a S&T of Dooling and Turkoglu then I would be okay with getting him.

I'd like to have him if we could sign him cheap. Lue is a better shooter, but Dooling is better defensively.

Chris Duhon would be a better fit for the team. I think he would be cheaper too.

No thanks to who foty? Dooling or Duhon?
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Dooling.

He is what he is and I think he's topped out. He's a decent backup who can occasionally hit the three and not a horrible defender. Translation: stop gap role player. Why spend the MLE (our only FA tool) on that?

I'd prefer getting someone with similiar talents but with youth and potential ie. CJ Miles.

I'm not saying I'd be oppossed to adding him after other moves are made but we have much more pressing issues and he shouldnt be a primary target.

I'm not sure I'd waste a roster spot on him even if it is for the vet min.

Same way I felt about Juwan Howard last year before we signed him.

Dooling, Lue are just useless mediocre players.
