Fri Night Game Thread: Tigers @ Jays

Post#1 » by OldNo7 » Fri Apr 13, 2007 5:10 pm

Date: Friday, April 13, 2007
First Pitch: 7:07pm
TV: Rogers Preview
Radio: Fan590

Pitching matchup
DET: RHP Jeremy Bonderman (0-0, 3.75 ERA)
Bonderman has a 3.46 ERA versus Toronto, his third lowest versus any American League team. The right-hander is 2-1 in seven career appearances versus the Jays.

TOR: RHP Roy Halladay (1-0, 3.46 ERA)
Halladay's first Major League victory came against Detroit back in 1998. He came within one out of recording a no-hitter. His bid was broken up when he was taken deep by outfielder Bobby Higginson.

MLB.com Note:
With Johnson questionable for Friday's game, outfielder Matt Stairs likely will get the call in left field for the second straight game. That could be good news for the Jays, because Stairs has the highest batting average versus Bonderman of anyone on the team. He is hitting .476 (10-for-21) with three home runs and eight RBIs against the righty.

ESPN.com Note:
Third baseman Troy Glaus won't play Friday after leaving Thursday's game as he continues to be bothered by a sore left heel. Glaus, who is 8-for-24 (.333) with two homers and five RBIs in 2007, is day-to-day.

Tigers probable lineup:
1. Granderson CF
2. Polanco 2B
3. Sheffield DH
4. Ordonez RF
5. Guillen SS
6. Rodriguez C
7. Casey 1B
8. Monroe LF
9. Inge 3B

Blue Jays probable lineup:
1. Rios RF
2. Overbay 1B
3. Wells CF
4. Thomas DH
5. Stairs LF
6. Hill 2B
7. Zaun C
8. Clayton SS
9. MacDonald 3B

Stairs is like a black hole on both offense and defense. I hate how he swings the bat. It's like he swings as hard as he can and still the ball goes no where.

I too, am not a fan of Matt Stairs. The word "sluggish" comes to mind. Defensively, especially.

I like Matt Stairs for what his job is. He is better then a lot of other OF coming off the bench for other teams.

I'd like Hinske back....at least he hustled and actually was not bad defensively in the field. He was pretty versitile for a chunky guy.

As for the game....Bonderman against Doc...great pitching matchup. I'll be @ the Raps Pistons game...I'm so mad that this game isn't televised...one of the better pitching matchups....rather last night's game not being televised....but oh well.

lol @ play by play guys

You only know Wells if you follow the game very closely. Wells does not get much coverage because he plays in Toronto.

Who hired that moron?

Doc for the win. I wish he got the win on the first game of the season. He would have been 3-0 now.

10 innings and only 107 pitches.

If Chacin threw 10 innings in one start he would have reached 207.

Return to Toronto Blue Jays
