What are the Brewers?
In honor of the thread on the Bucks board (though slightly different in meaning) here goes. This isn't the way the team is going to look at the end of the season. It probably won't even look like this for most of the season. Injuries aside, where is this team going? What is it going to look like in a month or two, or at the end of the year? There seems to be some debate about Braun, though I would say most see him being the every-day 3B later in the year. Is one of Graff and Couns gone? Mench? Gross, Nix? It seems like they are trying to keep this team afloat the way it is, until they make a big move. What other explanation for the lack of movement? Granted he all of the sudden became injured, Aquino had a short leash after a couple outings, why does Yost continue with the same guys that don't produce? I'm interested to hear some discussion on what we think the team will look like.

Explanation for the lack of movement? Its only the third week in May. We have the 2nd best record in the NL and the 2nd biggest divisional lead in baseball at 6.5 games.
Provided he's healthy, Braun will be up in June. I just can't see any way he won't be.
3B is really the only main issue I see in the lineup everyday. The Jenks/Mench platoon is working and RF will eventually sort itself out with Hart, Gross, and Gwynn.
Other than that, I really don't see many issues. The bullpen could get shuffled around a bit with Aquino, possibly latin Cappy, and the lefty in AAA named Thatcher. I don't really see any trades being made until later in the season when the team has a better idea of what exactly needs to be added. Injuries could certainly play a part in that as well.

well after a night's sleep i feel somewhat better about the team, and the recent performance. i haven't really panicked, but still... i agree that this team will sort itself out, with respect to the RF jumble, and whatnot. I don't know that i agree that menchkins is really working that well....jenkins is playing great, but mench? he's not horrible, but i don't think he should be here or be playing....thats a spot that the other three trying to make it can play (gross gwynn hart). but overall, this thread was more to see what we think will happen down the line, not this week or next. i think they've weathered the storm well so far and are poised to make a move when they get hot. also poised to make a move when ready. i just wonder how different this team will look later in the year
