Then again.....
Talks with the White Sox over Jermaine Dye, who would come to Boston as a fourth outfielder, are over, reports the Hartford Courant. Like many teams dealing with the Red Sox, Chicago would not budge over their asking price, which is believed to have included at least Jacoby Ellsbury or Clay Buchholz. The Red Sox fell out of the race for Mark Teixeira for similar reasons. With Jon Lester back and Curt Schilling not far behind, Kason Gabbard could be available in potential trades, according to the Boston Globe. -- Alex McPhillips

Sox in on Gagne, according to SI. But they also say he has a no-trade list, and boston is on it. Why? I thought Gagne almost signed with us this past year. Why does gagne not want to be in boston?

Gagne can go suck a D. If he doesn't want to come here, screw it. We don't need him that badly. I really think it's a move to prevent NY from getting him if anything.

I believe the reason for that is he wants to close and new that would not be the case with Paps here.

It is possible the Red Sox will allow him to share the closer's role with Jonathan Papelbon.

Well, Paps is gonna need a night off now and then with his whole rest regiment, so Gagne is an excellent option to close.
