Castro?
Schoenweis?

It's difficult for me to care about Schoenweis,

and, while disapointed in Castro, also, it begs the question. Castro's best season was last season, when taking Roids is unlikely due to increases in random testing.

Unless Castro's taking HGH - which is very difficult to test for.

and on LoDuc - do you think the Mets knew? Might this be why they showed zero interest in resigning him?

- - - -

That being said:

I want to say 2 things about this Steroid List:

1 - Roger Clemens - come on, if you didn't know he was on Roids before this list came out, you weren't paying attention. Roider Clemens. (meh) - somebody needs to photoshop Roider's head to Arnold's body - let the fun begin. or - Roider with 15 needles in his arm. Hot headed, overly bulked up Clemens - Roids. Yeah, I'll bet he dumped chemicals on his cereal in the morning. Who didn't see this coming.

and point 2 - a guy I have great respect for.

Not on the list: Mike Piazza.

and just last night, some clown on FAN was saying he expected to see Piazza on the list.

I knew Piazza wasn't on roids.

Piazza is someone, who, if he had used steroids, he would have been out of this world, he wouldn't have crashed as young as he did and he'd have gotten bigger. Piazza never got any bigger (the way Sosa, Clemens, Barry, Mcguire) all did. Piazza was an incredible natural talent - and he was absolutly clean. Piazza was like Mattingly - in the sense that he was truly the top at his position when he was in his prime, but Piazza, more so than Mattingly. He was a ridiculous talent. And his numbers don't look as good looking back through history, with the way numbers have inflated.

Props to Piazza. He was a tremendously gifted ball player. He was also, the begining of the Mets turn around.

I'm really happy for Fat-Clemenza. I was expecting more Yanks to be on the list. I'm disappointed Regular Season-Rod wasn't on it.

Mike Piazza: "Hey Fatso, karma's a bitch, ain't it?!"

It's not naive that I believe Piazza never juiced. Probably over half the players in MLB never juiced. Like smoking pot in high school - just cause people say everyone does it, doesn't actually mean everyone does - there's always a percentage who never touch the stuff. There's no doubt, a percentage of ball players who steared cleaer of Roids.

I personally never believed Piazza juiced because he never showed the signs of someone who did and he didn't seem the type. Is that conclusive? No, but until evidence comes out otherwise - I stand behind my "Mike was truly great" statement. I have a lot of respect for the guy.

At the same token, I also believe A-Rod and Jeter never juiced. (I'm less convinced on A-Rod). But I'm just as sure on Jeter as I am on Piazza. Jeter is a natural athlete and he hasn't bulked up. A-Rod looks like a prime Roid candidate, but A-Rod has offered to pea in a cup when he's being interviewed. A-Rod's pretty outspoken that he's never taken it, so I kind of believe him. But of the 3 - (Jeter, Piazza, A-Rod) - A-rod would surprise me the least if he was found out.

Jeter & PIazza would surprise me if either were named. I think those 2 guys are straight.

I hate Clemens as much as the next guy. Hated him for throwing at Piazza's head.

But the bat throwing thing was a very minor incident. It wasn't a throw it was a toss, and it wasn't at Mike, it was vaguely in Mike's direction. I hate Clemens for throwing at Piazza's head, but the bat incident was a small thing. I was happy he got penalized for it, but I never thought it was a big deal or an overtly aggressive act.

whoa. a "toss" would be roger flipping it over toward the mets dugout. he picked it up, and threw it at piazza's legs. watch the video again. and the whole "i thought it was the ball" thing is the biggest pile of **** i've ever seen in sports.

Well, I can't find the vid on-line anywhere, so I can't re-check it. But, it wasn't a overhand throw, it was a side arm toss, and, yes, it was borderline. It was in Piazza's direction, but I thought - clearly behind him, not at him, and it was thrown fast enough that had it hit piazza in the legs it would have tripped him up, but it wasn't thrown so fast that it was meant to injur. Clemens could easily have thrown a bat 70-80 MPH sidearm if he'd wanted. THis bad was going 30 MPH - (my best guess) - Regretably, that's from memory, not being able to rewatch it.

and trust me - I'm not a fan of Clemens - check out my sig.

But - a half speed throw, sidearm, behind Piazza (clearly in his direction but behind him) - not infront or at him.

I didn't take the throw as a serious intent, it was more a statement - clemens was like saying "I broke your bat sucker". I have no problem with the fine, cause it's a bad precident to throw a bat in the direction of anybody, but I still say it wasn't intent to harm, or that the bat was thrown "At" piazza. That's just how I saw it. I understand that it's interpretation, not an exact science.

I think, if Clemens wanted to hit Piazza with the broken bat, he would have.

Just for the record - they showed the bat throw briefly on the news last night - leaving Rogers arms - roger threw it towards the ground in a sidearm motion, it hit the ground well before it reached the first base line - granted, you can skim a bat across the ground with a good bit of speed, but it wasn't a full speed throw either. It was half speed, and I still say it was probably thrown behind Mike, not at him.

but I agree with you the whole "I thought it was a ball" line was pretty lame.
