Soriano signs 2-year deal

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Fri Jan 25, 2008 1:26 am

The hard-throwing, right-handed Dominican agreed to terms last week and the deal was finalized Tuesday after Soriano flew to Atlanta and passed a physical. He gets a $500,000 signing bonus and salaries of $2.4 million in 2008 and $6.1 million in 2009.

That 09 salary is ridiculously high. Lets hope he proves he is worth it.

Wickman signing at a discounted price made $6.5 million last season and if he had taken the 2 year deal the Braves apparently offered him, he'd be making about that amount this season as well. Getting a closer of Soriano's abilities costs money and he's a good value at about $6 million.

Everyone is signing for more. We should be happy about deals like this for proven guys.
