Mets Roster
Adam Bostick
He was the guy we acquired along with Jason Vargas in that blunder'd trade. Bostick is more effective against lefties than righties and he's a starter in the minors, but might be better suited as a possible lefty specialist in the majors though he's always been a starter. A very good strikeout pitcher, but in the mold of Burgos, lots of walks, and the overall numbers are not pretty.
Still, given that Humber & Mulvey were just traded, a guy like Bostick has a chance of sliping into the rotation at some point this year. An outside chance, but a chance, one blogger sees Bostick as a possible starter, another sees him as better suited for the pen (scroll down to Muniz, Bostick is mentioned)

The Mets acquired left-hander Adam Bostick along with lefty Jason Vargas in November of 2006 in exchange for right-handed relievers Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom. Last season Bostick pitched for AAA New Orleans. He had a pretty bad year going 6-7 with a 5.66 era, 91 strikeouts, and 45 walks in 21 games (20 starts, 97 innings).
Even though he did not fair too well last season in AAA he pitched very well in the Arizona Fall League (2-0, 2.74 era in 6 starts) and is pitching well in the Dominican Winter League (0-1, 2.77 era in 3 starts). This is the best Bostick has ever pitched since being drafted sixth round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft out of Salem High School (PA). I would keep an eye out for him because if someone gets hurt he could sneak up and start for the Mets if Humber and Mulvey struggle.
- note, obviously this was written pre-trade, but with Humber & Mulvey gone, Bostick does have an outside shot at the roster. Time will tell.

Willie Collazo

Ed Ryan at Mets Fever reports that Mets Willie Collazo pitched another fine game in the Venezuelan league playoffs. Collazo threw seven scoreless innnigs, allowing seven hits, no walks, and struck out four.
Collazo has started in 11 games (59 innings) with an ERA of 3.20 and a walk to strikeout ratio of 14/30.
Collazo was named the 2007 Sterling Award recipient for the New Orleans Zephyrs, which is the Mets minor league equivalent of MVP.

Double standard?
