This looks to be good news for our bullpen if he can have a good outing.

Here's the line on Ryan. 1IP with 2 K's - That is definitely a good sign for the Jays. I know it's against the D-rays but the fact that he has had a strong first outing is something positive to build off of.

Looks like he got up to 88-89mph which is promising. Sounds like he is on the road to recovery. I don't think I would use him in back to back games this year so in my opinion you might see a platoon between him and Accardo to start off. At least this is promising news for a change.

Hate to say I told you so, especially in these circumstances, but he is trying to come back too early and forcing the issue too soon. Now the Jays are shutting him down again. He should have waited until around mid-season, so at least he could have been available for a hopefully-meaningful September.

Wow, that was fast! This really sucks. Our bullpen looked to be tops in the majors with BJ, Accardo and Janssen for the late innings. This sucks!! Here's to hoping League will be back to his old form....gonna lose my mind with these injuries...can't we buy a break?
It doesn't say how long he'll be out for....any chance he could still be ready for mid-season and meaningful September games?

Janssen's injury was a surprise, but Ryan's isn't. It's baffling how careless the Jays (Ricciardi in particular) have been with rushing guys from injuries. The Jays already had a back-up closer option available (Accardo), and now League has apparently gotten his velocity and GB rate back to where it was in 2006. They could have survived without Ryan for a month or two had they just accepted the fact that he would start the year on the DL and rehab his way back. I was hoping Ryan could have come back by opening day, but a setback was inevitable.
I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of this in 2008. Both Ricciardi and Gibbons know that 2008 will dictate both of their futures, so I envision a lot of pitcher abuse from Gibbons (high pitch counts for the starters) as well as more careless injury management from Ricciardi.
