Swisher or C. Patterson

Post#1 » by ChronicKerr » Fri Apr 4, 2008 3:07 pm

I have Patterson on my team and someone just dropped Swisher. I'm in need of HR, RBI, and AVG. Is it worth using a waiver request and using one of my 35 eligible moves on the year to pick up Swisher or due to him batting leadoff will he not get those RBI's? Thanks!

Yeah, I'd pick up Swisher for sure.

I was happy about getting him in the 10th round, so I would be all over him if he was dropped. He's gonna get you some RBIs even though he's batting leadoff. He might bat somewhere else in the lineup if his production isn't great while batting leadoff, and U.S. Cellular field is batter friendly ballpark.

If you seriously have to ask that question, you shouldn't be playing fantasy baseball. He's not going to bat lead-off all season and he's got a few bats behind him to help score some runs when he is batting lead-off. Not to mention the fact that at US Cellular, he could hit 30-35 HRs easily this year. Patterson may not be starting by July 1st. Pick up Swisher. mahalo

Swisher is good; Corey Patterson is not.

Advantage: Swisher

nabbed him with the fourth waiver wire position after he was dropped. I was never questioning the fact that he's better (although patterson is ranked 41st in fantasy right now) and could be a 20/20 guy this year but the question is whether he'll be batting leadoff all year or not. The real question was whether or not in a league where I'm only allowed 35 "moves" all season was it worth it to waste my waiver and a move and whether or not he was a big enough upgrade to justify using the move. I agree, and picked him up but it I don't think that it was such a no brainer as swisher is off slow and i only needed certain categories. Anyways, thanks.

should i drop kemp for keppinger or hold kemp for a little longer . not sure what to thhink of the 4 Of's they have in LA, especiallyh with ethier playing good.

I think the Kemp/Pierre situation will work itself out when Joe Torre realizes that Matt Kemp is amazing and Juan Pierre makes the worst LF in baseball. Should only take a few 0-4 games from Pierre. Torre isn't a total fool.

mclouth is not available but wiggington is..

do you value him higher than keppinger? You'd recommend dropping kemp for wiggy? I don't think I'd go that far although he does have threee eligble positions.

Wiggington is a nice bench player because of his position availability but I wouldn't rely on him. Pierre is going to get the short end of the stick in the end because both Kemp and Ethier are considerably better. They may lose at bats here and there but Kemp has a boatload of talent and Torre isn't dumb enough to sit him for too long. Put Kemp on your bench but don't drop him. mahalo
