Call me crazy, but I'm optimistic for the future of this franchise. Two of the primary positions people are complaing about are QB and WR.
I absolutely love Tarvaris Jackson. Everything he brings to the table. His quickness, his agility, and his ability to throw the long ball, something this offense lacked over the past two years. Why? Because we didn't have a QB to throw it very far or WRs to run quickly downfield (Taylor, Robinson).
This is why I'm excited for the growth and development of Troy Williamson. Look who he had throwing him the ball his first two seasons. Brad Johnson isn't exactly known for throwing the deep ball, and when he did, he underthrew them. With someone like Jackson who can throw the ball deep down the field.
Also, or TEs weren't exactly very fast either. I think Wiggins was the fastest of the two. With Shiancoe, its another weapon for Jackson to stretch the field with.
Now, our players we've signed may not be well-known commodities, but anybody watch the movie Miracle? Like the coach said during tryouts, hes not looking for the best players, hes looking for the best team.
I commend Childress for some of the changes hes made since coming to Minnesota. Dennis Green wasn't the type of coach who had a tight leash on his players involved in off-field incidents. While, we did have better talent, I'm not so sure it helped us in the long run. When Tice came, everything was chaotic. Now with Childress, the players know they have certain expectations or they are gone. Simple as that.
