Final Mock....Hopefully 2 rounds
1. Oakland Raiders- WR Jamarcus Russell LSU
After going back and forth for months now I think the consensus is for the Raiders to take a franchise QB. I think the smart pick is Calvin Johnson but since Walter is the only QB on the roster this is the safest move.
2. Tampa Bay Bucs(Trade with Lions)- WR Calvin Johnson Georgia Tech
Gruden is not leaving this draft without C.J. so they work a deal with the Lions to move up and take the player they covet.
3. Cleveland Browns- QB Brady Quinn Notre Dame
Hometown kid and boss favorite to be the new face of the franchise.
4. Detroit Lions(trade with Bucs)- DE Gaines Adams Clemson
Lions get some pics and still get the player they covet most in this draft.
5. Arizona Cardinals- OT Joe Thomas Wisconsin
They would be crazy not to take Joe Thomas in this spot with there horrendous line.
6. Carolina Panthers(trade with Skins)- SS Laron Landry LSU
Panthers deal DT Kris Jenkins to the Skins for the right to move up to the 6th spot in the draft and select there stud safety they have been looking for. Makes total sense for the the Skins who bring the Maryland product in Jenkins technically back home.
7. Minnesota Vikings- RB Adrian Peterson Oklahoma
Vikings cant pass up on this type of talent in this spot.
8. Atlanta Falcons- OT Levi Brown Penn State
Falcons could go in a number of directions here but offensive line has to be a dire need area for them. Landry was there first choice and he is gone and Okoye could also be the guy here but the need at line is just too glaring especially with Petrino looking to clean the offensive line house.
9. Denver Broncos(trade with Dolphins)- DT Amobi Okoye Louisville
Shanny trades up giving the Phins a second and a third in order to move up and secure the defensive lineman they covet. Right now the only player they really have a Defensive Tackle is Gerard Warren.
10. Houston Texans- OT Joe Staley Central Michigan
With no second round pick the Texans are forced to reach and make Staley the surprise of the draft with him sneaking in the top ten because it is such a glaring need for them.
11. San Francisco 49ers- DE Adam Carriker Nebraska
Mean nasty huge lineman to be the anchor end of there 3-4 defense.
12. Buffalo Bills- MLB Patrick Willis Ole Miss.
New leader of there defense.
13. St.Louis Rams- DT Alan Branch Michigan
Rams in despetate need of a run stopping tackle pick up Branch who slid a bit due to workouts and rumors of stress fractures.
14. Washington Redskins(trade with Panthers)- DE Jammal Anderson Ark.
Wow in one fell swoop the Skins acquire Jenkins and also have Anderson fall right into there lap.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers- DE/OLB Anthony Spencer Purdue
Spencer is the protype player for Tomlin because he has experience playing in the 4-3 and 3-4. Timmons could be the player here but once again Tomlin needs defensive lineman if he want to slowly change to a Tampa 2.
16. Green Bay Packers- RB Marshawn Lynch Cal
The need is just too pressing for the Packers to pass up on.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars- FS Reggie Nelson Florida
Obvious Replacement for the loss of Deon Grant.
18. Cincy Bengals- CB Darrelle Revis Pitt.
Bengals has some major holes in the secondary that need to be filled.
19. Tennessee Titans- WR Dwayne Bowe LSU
Titans have many speedsters on the roster already and need a big physial target and a blocker for when Young wants to take off.
20. New York Giants- CB Leon Hall Michigan
Fiery leader who can become an impact player day one for that Giant Defense.
21. Miami Dolphins(trade with Broncos)- WR Ted Ginn Jr. Ohio State
Miami nabs the playmaker they where seeking and also pick up and extra second and third round pick.
22. Dallas Cowboys- CB Chris Houston Arkansas
Henry really isnt that good and Aaron Glenn is aging.
23. Kansas City Cheifs- WR Robert Meacham Tennessee
They need a playmaker at wideout for once.
24. New England Patriots- S/CB Brandon Meriweather Miami
Versatile enough to play both corner and safety.
25. New York Jets- TE Greg Olsen Miami
Jets get there tight end weapon for Chad.
26. Philadelphia Eagles- RB/FB Brian Leonard Rutgers
In a surprise pick the Eagles pick up the versatile Leonard to backup Westbrook and to be his fullback.
27. New Orleans Saints- DT Justin Harrell Tennessee
They need to beef up the middle of there defense and Harrell is quickily climbing up the boards.
28. New England Patriots- ILB Paul Posluzny Penn State
Pats get there eventual replacement for Bruschi.
29. Baltimore Ravens- OG/OT Justin Blaylock Texas
Ravens has Cody and Johnson to replace the loss of Thomas so I see them really focusing on the offensive line with there 1st pick.
30. San Diego Chargers- SS Michael Griffin Texas
Hard hitting safety to replace the loss of Kiel.
31. Chicago Bears- OG Ben Grubbs Auburn
Bears have pressing needs along there offensive line so this pick makes sense here.
32. Indianpolis Colts- OLB Lawrence Timmons FSU
They need to fill the void left by June.
2nd round
33. Oakland Raiders- OT Tony Ugoh Arkanas
Athletic Tackle who will add depth to there line.
34. Detroit Lions- QB Trent Edwards Stanford
They get there QB to groom.
35. Detroit Lions(trade with Bucs)- CB Aaron Ross Texas
With the loss of Bly this is a really nice pickup.
36. Cleveland Browns- DE/OLB Jarvis Moss Florida
Perfect fit for the 3-4 defense and can take over for the aging McGinest.
37. Chicago Bears- OLB Jon Beason Miami
Someone to groom to replace the eventual loss of Briggs.
38. Arizona Cardinals- DE/OLB Lamar Woodley Michigan
Versatile lineman who can play in either system.
39. Atlanta Falcons- DT Demarcus Tank Tyler NC State
With Grady Jackson bitchin they need a replacement.
40. Miami Dolphins- OT Ryan Harris Notre Dame
No brainer pick when team needs a left tackle.
41. Minnesota Vikings- WR Dwayne Jarrett USC
Big sure handed target this team so desperately needs.
42. San Francisco 49ers- WR Anthony Gonzalez Ohio State
Nice pick up and ready to start and make a big contribution.
43. Buffalo Bills- RB Antonio Pittman Ohio State
Looks like Turner wont be the burner with the Bills this year so they go for Pittman to be there young RB.
44. Atlanta Falcons- MLB David Harris Michigan
They need someone to come in and replace the eventual loss of Hartwell.
45. Carolina Panthers- TE Zach Miller Arizona State
Pass catching tight end who will add some things to the Panther offense.
46. Pittsburgh Steelers- C Ryan Kalil USC
With Hartings retiring they are able to pick up the best center in this draft.
47. Green Bay Packers- TE Ben Patrick Deleware
Take a gamble on this talented small school tightend.
48. Jacksonville Jaguars- DE Victor Abriami Notre Dame
They need some help at end so this is a very nice pick for them.
49. Cincy Bengals- WR Sidney Rice South Carolina
With Henry suspended there isnt much else backing up Johnson and Housh.
50. Tennesse Titans- DE Tim Crowder Texas
They need an end and a good word from Vince Young is nice too.
51. New York Giants- OLB Stuart Bradley Nebraska
Physical linebacker who can be a starter for them.
52. St. Louis Rams- CB Eric Wright UNLV
Great value pick here at corner.
53. Dallas Cowboys- WR Steve Smith USC
They have Sam Hurd and Pat Crayton in the fold but Owens and Glenn are on there last legs.
54. Kansas City Cheifs- OT/OG Arron Sears Tennessee
Nice pickup here and replacement for Shields.
55. Seattle Seahawks- DT Quinn Pitcock Ohio State
Always trying to imprve there defensice line.
56. Miami Dolphins(trade with Broncos)- QB Drew Stanton Michigan State
He has been working a lot down in Miami so I am giving him the nod here as the QB of the future.
57. Philadelphia Eagles- CB/S Tanard Jackson Syracuse
Tweener who will play multuple spots in the secondary.
58. New Orleans Saints- S Eric Weddle Uth
They need help in the secondary.
59. New York Jets- CB Marcus McCauley Fresno State
Have to be pleased to see him fall this far.
60. Miami Dolphins- DE Ray McDonald Florida
Will add depth and maybe even start at end in there 3-4.
61. Baltimore Ravens- DE/OLB Quentin Moses Georgia
Wow what a late round steal for the Ravens.
62. San Diego Chargers- WR Jason Hill Washington State
Burner they need.
63. New York Jets- WR Aundrae Allison East Carolina
They are looking to deal MCareins and other then that there isnt much else.
64. Detroit Lions(Tampa Bay Bucs)- DT Turk Mcbride Tennessee
Lions continue to load up on defense.
After going back and forth for months now I think the consensus is for the Raiders to take a franchise QB. I think the smart pick is Calvin Johnson but since Walter is the only QB on the roster this is the safest move.

The Cards line wasn't as "horrendous" as you'd think. We were right in the middle of the league in sacks allowed..It's our run blocking that needs some work. Even with that, we had 4 100yd rushing games as the season ended..with new oline coach Russ Grimm and T Mike Gandy (Who was LT for the Bills when McGahee rushed for a career high 1250yds in 05-06) we can only get better.
I like Woodley, but no way in hell the Cards will pass on Michael Griffin if he's available. There is ZERO chance, my friend.

Your taking this way too personally. "Why don't I throw Eric Weddle in there." Wow you're weird, crazy, emotional, high tempered, and mean. What the hell? Besides, it's not like I'm saying Ross and Griffin are the guys the pats are gonna draft, but it would make more sense if they were picked. Griffin is better than Meriweather, the pats have Thomas Colvin which have 4-5 years left in them, Vrabel has 3-4 years left in him and Bruschi has 2-3 years left in him. So it wouldn't make sense to draft a linebacker when they haven't drafted secondary in quite awhile, besides they need better safety help than Meriweather, which is Griffin (who is the 3rd best safety, Landry and Nelson are better) and they need a 3rd string corner, and if we trade Samuel, he can become our 2nd string corner.

Hey Pierce if you read the post throughly I said I was just playing around with you with the emotional sarcasm. I understand where you are coming from and Ross and Griffin make way more sense but also keep in mind that Colvin and Thomas are OLB and Paul Posluzny is an ILB. I highly doubt Vrabel and Brushi play for three more years. Both of them are in there 30's and that's pretty much dog years for NFL LB's. If you look at there depth behind them they only have special teams dynamo Larry Izzo.

I picked Meriweather because he can play both Corner and Safety. Belicheck values versatility more than anything. Asante Samuel is going to play just holding out for now. I went to high school with him if you could beleive that. Boyd Anderson's finest in Lauderhill, Florida

Good point, but since we need a backup linebacker, not an immediate starter, we'd probably draft one in the third or fourth round.

I'm still going with my Ross and Griffin idea because of the post before this I wrote. Safety is our biggest need, so we'll need the best safety available, and Griffin will be our pick unless Nelson or Landry (highly doubt) will fall to us. I'm not gonna believe that Asante thing, because a lot of people I know are liars, I'm not saying you're a liar, but I learned not to trust almost anyone. Oh before I forget I have another reason for Griffin and Ross, their chemistry at texas is what the pats look for. The pats go for guys who can work with the team, so Griffin and Ross would go a long way with the pats chemistry.

We both make very good points for our picks but I am sticking with what the Pats usually do. Every year I always hear that the Pats are going to draft a Corner high but never do and this has been going for a while now. Why are they going to change now?? I understand the Asante problem but didnt they have this same problem with Ty Law. Wasnt Asante Samuel a 3rd round pick??? I just Paul P fits there mold and though he will only be a backup this year I am pretty sure he gets a ton of playing time and will open the door for Brushci to retire.

Thanks for the gracious compliments Pierce it only took me me about 3 freakin hours to do. These damn things are very time consuming. I got really tired at the end of the second round so some picks may be a bit of a strecth

GSW in response to your comments about Carriker over Anderson. I have heard recently that Anderson plays the run pretty soft and would just prefer to be a rusher so he may just be better suited for the 4-3. Carriker on the other hand is bigger and more physical then Anderson thus him being the better fit for the Niners 3-4. Carriker might not have glamourous numbers but he will take up a couple of blockers and free up those linebacker in that scheme. As for Gonzalez over Rice. I just think Rice is too much of a project right now for the 49ers. Gonzalez would be ready to step in day one and contribute as a starting wideout. It could very well be Rice but I was just looking at it in this point of view.

Yeah when you are writing all the BS on explaining your pics it gets pretty ridiculous. Plus looking at team rosters and player rankings going back and forth it's real time consuming when you do it to this magnitude. The second round is actually the hardest of them all.
