It wasn't garbage today, it was just conservative. We never really attempted to stretch the field, but we took good care of the ball and controlled the clock. The only pick was the result of a tipped ball and Deangelo Hall's freakish athleticism. Jackson made a couple mistakes in terms of throwing to the wrong shoulder of the receiver (the incompletion to Sidney Rice being the most obvious). Other than that, there were a couple drops when he placed the ball well, and he wasn't sacked once. We run the ball more than decently, too. We run very well. A 5.1 ypc is nothing to sneeze at. Our receivers showed some nice athleticism as well. Once Bevell becomes more comfortable calling plays, we might even see some attempts at big plays. Atlanta was an athletic D that provided a good litmus test for Tarvaris, and while he didn't light the place up, he did everything we asked him to. I'm a little more optimistic about this year after seeing the game today.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''
