Leftwich suffers setback in recovery

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Nov 8, 2007 10:08 pm

Falcons quarterback Byron Leftwich, recovering from ankle surgery, suffered a minor setback in his rehabilitation.

"He went out and threw on Monday and got real sore from doing that," Falcons coach Bobby Petrino said on Wednesday. "He took today off."

Last week, Petrino said he thought Leftwich was still two weeks away from returning, while the quarterback thought he was a week away.

"I know it's really disappointing to him that the doctor's timetable was maybe more correct that his," Petrino said. "He's a fighter. He's working hard at getting back as quick as he can."

I think Joey will lead us to victory against Carolina, and I still think he should start the rest of the year.

Leftwich is injury prone, and is clearly not the long term answer for the team. I think Harrington has the potential to fit in well with Petrino's system - and we should just roll with him the rest of the year.
