Has anyone been paying attention to him since Sid went out?

He has been dominating the game. Currently, he is #1 in the scoring race.

I knew Geno had talent, but I never thought he could be this good and will only get better. Since Sid went out, he has dominated the league. I hope he continues this when Sid gets back.

I also believe Geno has more talent then Sid. Sid has more drive then Geno, which makes him the better player, but Geno has more talent. I'd argue right now, that Geno is the best player in the game.

And for many years to come, the Pens will have 2 of the 3 best players in the game. And I will enjoy watching it.

Id been telling my friends for a year that Malkin is just as good as Crosby and they all thought I was crazy.

Don't know if I would put Malkin in the same class as Ovechkin or Ilya Kovalchuk. He's a damn good player but not the best in the league.

The best in the league for my money is Jerome Iginla put him with Crosby and it's over. The guy is a machine fights, plays physical, scores alot of goals and is a great 2-way player.

I would have possibly agreed with this prior to the past month of hockey ive watched from Malkin. The kid is a machine and easily been the best player in hockey the past month. Hes skating is awesome for big guy and his hands are very solid too. Kovalchuk only plays defence on some nights and doesnt play as physical to Malkin. Malkin is both a goalscorer and a playmaker where id only really consider Kovalchuk a goalscorer.

Put Malkin on a team where he's the #1 and first line center and he would win the hart trophy. Hes putting up MVP type #'s the past month and his wingers arent exactly worldbeaters.

Malkin has been the best player in the league since Crosby went down. When Crosby comes back, if Malkin can keep this up, or even half of this level of play up, the Penguins will be scary dangerous.

That's what I'm hoping for Malkin to do. I don't think he played dominant when Sid was in the lineup because Sid was the spot light. I think this injury to Sid was the best thing for Malkin. He got to be in the spotlight and he has not let anyone down at all.

Him-Sykora and Malone/Talbot is going to be one scary 2nd line for teams to face in the playoffs.

I'll take Malkin over Kovalchuk any day of the week. Kovalchuk is lazy, he show boats and it's all about him. Malkin is always down low in the defensive zone playing defense.

My best player right now, would be Niklas Lidstrom. I can't believe how good he is playing at his age. Unbelievable. Well, how he was playing. Too bad he got hurt.

I agree, even though I am a Wings fan so I'm kind of biased. It just doesn't get any more perfect than Nik Lidstrom.

Malkin has dominated since Sid went out but you probably have to give the MVP to Ovechkin at this point.

Where would Washington be without Ovechkin? Certainly not in a playoff hunt.

I have to agree, Ovechkin is MVP at this moment, and without a doubt if the Caps make the playoffs. He is the only reason that team wins

You could also say the same about Malkin. If Malkin wasn't on the Pens when Sid went out, the Pens would probably be out of the playoffs. And it's not just Sid getting injured, it's been about the whole team.

You can also argue from the standpoint that if Malkin was truly the most valuable player, he'd be scoring like this even with Sid in the lineup.

Either way, it won't be a Penguin winning the Hart.

Put Malkin on the first line and Crosby on the second line and let Malkin be the vocal point of the powerplay instead of Crosby and he would outscore Crosby.

Not neccessarily. Malkin has been playing in Sids shadow since he came into the league and I think that had an effect on him.

Now that Sid got hurt, it was his time to shine and he realized he had to put the team on his shoulders and show what he really is like.

Without Evgeni Malkin, the Pens would not be where they are at right now, at the top of the Eastern Conference. Is Washington even in the playoffs right now? Nope.

So with Alexander Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals aren't in the playoffs.

And without him, they wouldn't be in the playoffs.

Malkin has been my favourite player since I first watched him play. I've told my brother since the before last season began that Malkin is going to be a special player. [Got him back for nagging me on Vinny Lecavalier

Very few have Malkin's combination of size and skill. I mean this guy is unstoppable with his force. He has the ability to not only out muscle you, but to flat out embarass you with the puck. Book it, this kid is going to be as good as Ovechkin when you look up at the great European players. These guys are absolutely fantastic and a delight to watch.

Without Ovechkin the Caps are a team that isn't in Washington DC period. The guy is keeping that team in DC, I know how great Malkin has been but he's not a MVP it's Ovechkin or even Lidstrom.

Washington was never in jeopardy of leaving since Ovechkin.

Anyway, no love for Brodeur. New Jersey has lost a lot the past few seasons.
