Cavs Fan Asking about Wilcox

Post#1 » by midgman8421 » Mon Jun 16, 2008 7:32 am

Is there any sort of trade that the Cavs and Sonics could work out for Wilcox? Would you guys have any interest in Varejao or Pavlovic? Or would you expect to trade him for future picks?

Honestly not really. Looking at the Cavs cap situation and thier (ummm..) assets, their isn't any current player the Sonics would have any serious interest in, that the Cavs would remotely consider.

Ben Wallace at 14mil, no thanks, we already had Wally Z, Zeek isn't going anywhere plus he would be a bad fit for the Sonics, Snow is retiring. I'd simply rather hang on to Wilcox than have Varejo.

So if it were to happen it would need to be a three team trade.

I don't see Seattle giving up Wilcox for anything less than a piece of the puzzle that works. Wilcox if a pretty solid PF and he is expiring. If they can't trade him for a contributor, they can simply let him walk.

I absolutely agree with wiff.

Presti has until the trade deadline to find a situation that he can use his war chest (eg Wilcox, Watsnour, extra 1sts & expirings) to secure a legit center. Otherwise more difficult scenarios will have to be explored (eg trade for expiring & pick, letting him walk, sign/trade, etc).

A three team trade scenario is tough... at this moment I'm only thinking of Biedrins, Okafor & Hawes as legit center targets. And none of those guys is likely available for anything near what the Sonics are willing to pay.

The Wilcox situation will likely require patience to sort out properly.

I like Wilcox. He runs the floor like a deer which is unusual for a PF. Many of his points come from finishing on the break. In the half court set he is our only post up offensive player. I don't see a trade that I would do with Cleveland for Wilcox. Even the Cleveland draft picks are likely to be too low for my tastes. Wilcox is worth at least a lottery pick.
