OT-ESPN suspends columnist Jemele Hill

ESPN.com columnist Jemele Hill was suspended yesterday after sparking outrage by comparing rooting for the Boston Celtics [team stats] to Adolf Hitler and nuclear war.

“Jemele has been relieved of her writing and on-air responsibilities for a period of time to reflect on the impact of her words,” ESPN spokesman Paul Melvin said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.

Yesterday, Hill amplified on her earlier apology for writing, “Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

We knew she wasnt good at the Sentinel, but now she took her stuff to the national guys and made a big mistake, maybe she might be back at the sentinel sooner than later....
Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

"I just think everybody needs to stop talking about it," Howard said. "There's more to life than free throws."

How will I ever go on living?
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

When will people learn to not make comparisons to Hitler. It always blows up in your face. There was only one Hitler and there never is a good comparison to be made. Silly rabbit.

LMAO that is hilarious. Jemele Hill is a hack. The only reason she has a job is because she tries really hard to grab attention by saying the most sensational thing out there. Thats all she is about, she has no real writing talent whatsover. Her M.O. is to intentionally say controversial things to get atttention, is the only reason she was hired by ESPN. I guess its her only hope cuz she is crap lol. She is like the depressed girl that puts out for everyone because she is lonely no one will look at her lol.

Next article by Jemale Hill: "How Suspending Me for Making a Horrible Hitler Joke is Racist"

This is all she does, folks. She's the Howard Stern of sports journalism, except Howard Stern is occasionally funny. Hill couldn't stumble onto insight if her life depended on it. ESPN needs to fire her, not because of her outlandish comments or even that she's incredibly annoying. They need to fire her for the simple reason that her pieces lower the quality standard of their organization. She's just, through and through, a bad writer. End of story.

That is my exact thought. I could not stand her here and even more so at ESPN. She is exactly how you described her to be.

Hill is a tool.

A pretty stupid one at that.

I'm sure that Hill considers herself an "on the edge" writer.

Looks like that "edge" might be a cliff.

Good riddance......if only it was permanent.

can't be a good writer?

that's fine. just be an "on the edge" writer.

jemele hill is a perfect example of what is wrong with ESPN.

they hire personalities instead of talents.

Was talking about stuff like this today with the American Media - and I am not 1 bit surprised that she wrote that. I would suspend her, I'd straight up fire her since she is a awful writer and clearly cant think of anything appropriate to say.

About time

I personally think she should of been suspended when she filled in for jim rome and basically came out and said that Shawne Merriman (Chargers LB) deserved to have his $200K Bentley stolen, stripped and set on fire because hes too arrogant and because of his "annoying" sack celebration

Has she ever gone on TV and NOT embarrassed herself?

The day that the sentinel allowed that fatso to write articles for them was the darkest day in Central Florida sports history.

Shouldnt the editor be suspended too? Since she's a columnist, someone had to proofread and approve her article. Unless she said this on tv, which then i understand, but I thought most of them used teleprompters anyway. Either way she is incompetent.

I remember back in like March I saw her drunk, ugly a** stumbling up and down section 217. She was just a few rows from the very top.
