Pacers 3 Step Process

Post#1 » by bjschacht » Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:42 pm

Here are a few ideas please let me know how you feel everyone!

Step 1: Elton Brand hates being the second team in LA. So he may want a change of scenery and putting him in Indiana he might get back to the playoffs. The hard part is getting LA to take JO. We give them Diener so that they have a backup after they cut loose Livingston. If we have to, give them the pick or a future 1st rounder. Whatever gets the deal done!!!!!!

Step 2: Trade Tinsley to Charlotte with our draft pick or a future, just so we can get rid of him. Felton is going to be better than anyone we draft for at least a couple of years in regards to PG Play. Harrington allows us some much needed depth when we lose Harrison.

Change in Team Outlook: -4.6 ppg, -1.3 rpg, and +0.8 apg.

6-1 PG from Iowa State
11.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 8.4 apg in 33.2 minutes
Outgoing Players
Raymond Felton

14.4 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 7.4 apg in 37.6 minutes
Othella Harrington

Indiana Trade Breakdown
Change in Team Outlook: +4.6 ppg, +1.3 rpg, and -0.8 apg.

Outgoing Players

Step 3: Free Agents that we should really ponder include:

1. James Posey
2. Anthony Johnson

Roster

PG Felton / Owens
SG Dunleavy / M. Daniels
SF Granger / S. Williams
PF Brand / T. Thomas / I. Diogu
C Murphy / Foster

Plus whatever free agents we can get a hold of!

Felton is worth more than the eleven pick + they have to take Tinsley = Bad for Charlotte

I can't see Charlotte making that trade at all. I really think you are dreaming if you believe you can get a decent starting point guard in return for Jamal. I hope I am wrong, but I just don't see that happening.

I also question whether or not the Clippers would be interested in that trade. I would think Elton Brand could get them a better deal elsewhere as well. I also think we would have to SIGNIFICANTLY outbid other teams to get James Posey or Anthony Johnson to look at Indiana. Aside from that I can't see us signing too many free agents given the finances of the team.

Good ideas, and if they worked I would be thrilled, I just don't see them happening.
