MN trade question

Post#1 » by revprodeji » Thu Jun 26, 2008 12:16 am

I am just asking fans what they would think of this scenario. There have been sources as well as speculation about this from a MN perspective.

Lets say nothing happens with Mia/LAC

Would LAC be willing to deal Kaman+pick for MN 3rd pick? Does it matter if it is Mayo or Beasley that falls?

Mn has said they would trade down out of the top-3 only if they get a "young starter" and a pick that nets them a player they desire. The players in the 2nd tier they like are Love and Gallinari. I could see LAC being a potential place to trade.

It won't matter if it's Mayo or Beasley, cause the trade isn't happening. There is just no way we add in Kaman.

Ok, cool. That is what I wanted to know.

Quick question...

Why does it appear that Lac would give up Brand+the pick for the same package, but not kaman+the pick?

Just curious. I did not mean any offense by it.

None taken at all.

Because of Brand's contact status, it makes us use him as more of a tradeable asset as we have our concerns that he may not resign either this season or next (when his contract is done with), and does not sign a long term deal. I think he will stay with the Clipps for a long time personally, but I have no faith in Sterling or Baylor that they will positively get the job done.

Kaman is much younger and is a top 10 center in the league. You just don't trade away a 15-20 PPG/10+RPG center.

I don't want to lose Brand or Kaman, but ClipperDomination is right on the money with his response.. Kaman is becoming one of the top Centers in the league, and he is younger, and under contract.. He is untradeable, at this point.

It's not the same package, the proposed deal is Brand and #7 for Marion and #2. Not only would Miami give us a higher pick, but a more than servicable forward also. I still don't think that trade will happen.

Just glad that some MIN fans understand that Kaman is not coming their way. :D

Kaman is pretty much untouchable unless you're talking about a deal for a LeBron, Wade, etc.

Unlikely to happen. I wouldn't mind sending Kaman for the #3 but not include the #7 pick, since the Clippers would need to pick up Brook Lopez there if he dropped. I also don't think the Clippers would be interested in the cap filler like Jaric that Minnesota would need to add to the trade to make it work.

I'd still feel hesitant about sending Kaman for the 3 but as long as we kept the 7 it could make a lot of sense. With Brand & Kaman we're in the upper-echelon of the league for F/C duos. That's actually a legit strength (even though more teams are closing the gap) and to break that up just to add a guard that may be a good player is hefty price to pay. Brand is the best player on the team and Kaman is currently a top 5-7 center and harder to replace from a positional standpoint. I'd be pretty pissed to see either one get shipped out.
