CDR

I have to say ... I'm a little disappointed that there has been zero talk of the biggest steal in the draft. So, let me first offer my congratulations. CDR, AKA Chris Douglass Roberts, AKA Buckets was a FIRST team all-american this year. His counterpart, Derrick Rose, went #1 overall. He goes #40. Let me now scratch my head. He has 3 years of collegiate experience under an NBA type coach where he turned the Memphis program around and was one of the leaders that helped them win 104 games in 3 years!!! IMHO, he was the most underrated defender in this draft. He plays incredible team defense and always works hard. Offensively, I would say he was a top 5 player in this draft. He shot 50% from the field. His shot is practically unblockable ... it's like a running flip hook. And he hits it at a very high rate. He is a great shooter and is very long. He isn't afraid to take it to the rack either--case in point when he dunked on Kevin Love's head in the final four. His only real weaknesses are his free throw shooting: 75% and his body type. But he matches up pretty favorably with Rip Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince as far as size and length. And skill set.

I am still scratching my head. I was pleading with the Lakers to trade up and get him. I don't understand what all these GMs were missing? Well, they're going to find out very soon. CDR is going to get some nice run with no Jefferson and the perennially injured Simmons. What a great opportunity for hm. And hopefully he'll be playing with LBJ soon.

Good work.

Zero talk?
I havent seen a single reporter that didnt call him a steal or the flat out steal of the draft at #40.
I think he was by far our best pick in this draft.

And yeah I agree I really dont understand how he sliped so far.

Yeah in some of the posts, a lot of us think that he was the best pick in the draft. When I was watching the 2nd round, once we got to pick 33 every time the James Taylor lookalike went up the podium, I just yelled at the tv "Don't you dare say CDR."

I think it's a great pick for us. To me, he reminds me more of a pre-injuries Ron Mercer. If he ever got to that level, I'd love life. This kid could be a rotation guy right from day 1 and, honestly if we don't make any major moves, will probably be a starter by all-star break at the latest. We'll make some moves though but he will probably most definitely be the first guy off the bench for Vince and whoever starts at the 3 for us. He's a proven winner, is a seasoned player (I honestly don't like drafting first/second year players unless I can't pass one up) and will definitely be a contributor on this team. If we didn't go big at #21 he was the guy I wanted...getting him at #40 is unreal to me.

:nodhead: I wanted Detroit to take him at #29...he is the steal, on paper at least...but you have to think...scouts must have saw something that lead him to drop so far....

Calipari said it best. CDR isn't a jaw-dropping athlete and in individual workouts he wouldn't necessarily impress anyone. The draft was all about potential, which led to teams taking players who were more impressive. That being said, CDR is a great teammate. He plays a great TEAM game, he's not an individual-type performer. He'll be a great addition to this team.
