Jamison 4 yr 50 mil...setting the price for lamar?

the wizards and antawn jamison are close to agreeing the above deal...does it set the price for lamar?

jamison would seem to have similar value to lamar and will be 32 at the start of the season. 4 yr 50 mil could roughly break down into 11mil, 12 mil, 13mil, 14 mil for the next 4 yrs for an average of 12.5 mil per yr.

how does this influence lamar's future contract or is he simply too much money for the lakers to keep whether it be 8 mil or 12 mil?

other reports show the deal at possibly 4 yrs/ 44 mil and another has it at 4 yrs / 48 mil

jamison's contract should go a long way in determining what odom's asking price might be.

Jamison is better than Lamar. Better overall scorer, equal or better rebounder. Jamison is a multi-time All-Star. If LO expects a similar contract, he can go looking for it somewhere else.

LO is better than Jamison in everything except shooting.

He is a better slasher, playmaker, rebounder, etc.

And the All-Star argument doesn't matter considering that LO has to go against a ton of star forwards in the West in contrast to the East.

Antwan can score better than LO and is an equal in rebounding.

I think this deal is a good indicator of what Lamar should and will get.

I think this is a roughly a good estimate for Odom's market value, but I'm not convinced the Lakers will be a certain buyer.

Odom is going to have to show he can fit with the team before the Lakers consider keeping him at all, imho.

Not only fit, Odom's going to have to prove that he'll be a major asset to our team, he's going to have play very well, for Buss to pay that luxury tax, even on a conservative sum like 10m a year.

If it puts up 20 and 10 this year it will ;)

Nah, if Lamar can contribute as much next year at the SF as he did this year at the PF and the team continues with its success then I think he would deserve that. The key is he doesn't have to put up huge numbers, he just has to do what he's extremely capable of, a little bit of everything and be a great defender. If Kobe gets his usual, Pau and Drew are 15-20 and 10 guys and Lamar is the glue guy, If he does that we'll be in good shape and he'll earn himself a similar contract. Honestly I'd be happy with 10 7 and 4 out of Lamar with 48% and 35% if he plays good tough D.

Personally I think it will happen :)

4 yrs/ 44 mil would be decent, but that still seems a bit high for a 4th option, which he will be once Drew gets back in gear.
