Is it possible to get a OKC board up soon?

Post#1 » by KCBen » Thu Jul 3, 2008 1:33 am

I have to admit I'm very interested in the new OKC franchise since it is in my region (Kansas). Basically it will be these peoples team as well. The reason I bring this up is, it is classless to be talking about OKC on the Seattle board. Now that OKC is going to be location, I think it is only right for those fans that will be supporting the new franchise to have a place to talk without getting threads locked bringing up the word OKC. Sorry to all of you that disagree with the outcome, but please understand now that it has happened, let the fans of the new OKC franchise have a voice.

I don't know if I'd push for it now, as the emotions are going to be extremely raw for a while, but that may be the best way to keep potential trouble out of the Seattle forum. I wouldn't want people from OKC wanting to just discuss basketball on that forum if I were them, even if the fans in OKC are not who they should be upset with.

Until an OKC board is up, however long it takes, I think that the proper thing to do on everyone's part is not to go to the Seattle forum to discuss the team. Perhaps keep the threads over here in General for a while.

I've been through losing the Oilers, and I'm sure that Browns fans will back me up when I say that it hurts. Let's not antagonize the good fans of Seattle who are in a bad place right now.

In summary, I do agree with you, KCBen, but in the meantime let's just keep the OKC talk here. That's my 2 cents.

i don't see why it would be too soon to create an oklahoma city board. what would really be too soon would be doing away with the seattle board.

I'm not going to say it's a bad or tasteless request, but I will admit my first reaction to this thread was "would you like to go dance on Jimi Hendrix's gravestone while you're at it?"

It's a bit too soon I hate to compare it to a death but Sonic fans need a grieving period. Any OKC board right now would probably be over run by angry topics anyway at the moment.

Change the Seattle board to the Oklahoma City board and ban all of the old Sonic fans. That would be hilarious.

Did you start it here or on the Sonics board? If you started it over there then I can understand why it was deleted.

How classless, Sonic fans just lost a team who played in Seattle for the last 41 years.

:D it would, but I'm not too sure it would be the kindest thing to do at a moment like this.

Should we also all bake pies and cookies and send cards to Seattle fans?

So are OKC fans shallow for ditching their favorite NBA team to root for the local city. I assume people living in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri are fans of the NBA and have been fans of some NBA fanchise.

Maybe they don't feel tied down to one franchise. All these sudden converts to a stolen team seem disappointing for some reason.

As for the board they are still the Seattle Sonics until OKC names their franchise.

When it is official it should be created. All the OKC people should go to the Sonic board and start talking about players and team stuff but not the move. That's be hilarious. (of the shadenfreude type) The thing is the team and history will remain in Seattle so the name of the forum shouldn't change. They can move the Sonic board eventually by the Off Topic Canada board.
