Complete this hypothetical trade (GSW/CHA)

Post#1 » by dprodigy19 » Mon Jul 7, 2008 6:46 pm

Hey guys,

I was just trying to touch base and get a sense of how your fanbase values some of your guys vs. how the Warriors fans do. It seems like our talent actually matches up fairly well after the draft.

So he's my idea:
Crash, Felton, and _______ (bad contract?) for B. Wright, Al Harrington, 2009 1st rounder, and _________

Who would be fair players to fit in those blanks?

Thanks and best of luck

You beat me to it. I was just about to post something about the Ws trading for Felton.

Anyways, knowing that Mullin and Higgins are buds, it seems likely that a trade between the two teams could happen. I like the idea of trading Harrington for Felton and filler. I doubt the trade gets much bigger, in terms of players involved, than that though. B Wright isn't going anywhere.

Can Al Harrington play point guard?

If he can't then I don't see us trading Felton for Harrington.

Personally I don't see the attraction anyway from our POV...Harrington isn't really a PF, seems to shun contact and lives outside the paint. None of that is our "need" IMO.

This just makes me want to keep our team the same and enter the season as is (and a MLE PF). Almost all of the hypotheticals thrown our way don't sound all that appealing to me. I realize that my homer-ism is probably the leading cause of this but at the same time, getting an "upside" guy in Wright doesn't excite me all that much.

That being said, if we were to trade Crash, I'd love to trade him to either warriors or the nuggets. I think those two systems would allow him to shine.

Just realized that I didn't address the actual trade idea (too many Harrington for Felton "ideas" lately).

Crash/Felts for Harrington/BWright/09 1st. Not too bad, but would GSW really be willing to move BWright? Would we be willing to put off yet another year making the playoffs (if anything I think we lose a step now, but depending on BWright we could make it up and then some).

We're already pretty young, certainly have to be approaching Larry Brown's limit. In the end like FFP said, I'd probably rather stand pat. Crash & Swish are two dynamic wings and I'd really like to see if LB can make that work.

Do we have a Felton and Wallace for SALE sign out there somewhere?

First of all, it's pointless for us to trade Felton when we don't even know what DJ will give us along with only having 2 total PG's on the roster.

Second of all, it doesn't make sense to move Wallace unless it's for a PF of equal or greater value.

first things first... i'd rather stick with what we have. that being said... its not a bad deal, really.

i'm just gonna assume the salaries match or whatever (i aint lookin' it up).

harrington seems like a decent compliment to okafor. he's not a great defender but he's decent. he had a rep at indiana and atlanta for actually being a fairly good defender. i cant really speak for his days at gs, since its really hard to gauge someones defensive effectiveness playing for nellie and playing way out of position. harrington is a solid rebounder and a good shooter. wright is not quite ready to start but he may be ready in a year or so. the warriors arent gonna be winning a ton of games next year unless they get brand so i would imagine their pick would be in that 10-15 range, not bad.

as for pg depth... the FA market is actually fairly deep with decent pg options. we could easily pick up a vet to help DJ ease into the transition, someone like anthony carter.

and man.... crash would be insane to watch in gs for 55 games a year.

but, like i said, i'd much rather stick with the team we have now.

Am I the only one that is not ga ga over Harrington/Wright. Harrington is ok, but i'd prefer Crashes slashing/defense. Felton right now contributes more than Wright can. Wright is still a twig and we already have our big man project players in Ajinca, Hollins, and Davidson.

With the way things are going for the Warriors that 1st rounder might be pretty good. But all in all I dont think the deal makes us a better team.
